The next Pope?: the first Black Pope!
Cardinal Francis Arinze of Nigeria is being touted for the job(?is being the Pope a job?). Now that would be progressive! My poor racist mother is gonna shit rusty tacks......

the African cardinals are more conservative than JP II.
Of course, they could surprise us.

generally. I don't know about Cardinal Arinze of Nigeria, but the word is the most of these guys are allies of Cardinal Ratzinger (Opus Dei) and are more conservative than our present Pope.

Sorry, but the Church south of the Equator is very, very conservative. That's true in South America, Africa, etc.

but the article i read said that he suggests that Christianity could learn from other religions, and he would advocate greater tolerance and discussion within the Catholic Church. sounds good to me, but again I dont know of these holy things

he has had a long time to pack the College of Cardinals with his allies.

6. And what you say is a fact. He (the present pope) made sure that
all the ones that are going to be elegible are ULTRA CONSERVATIVES. Too bad for the church.
