The funkiest bassline in the last 10 years

Erykah Badu's "I Want You"

I don't blame her for making the song almost 11 minutes (10:53).

3. "Whatever" really didn't have a bassline

Very good song, though.

BTW, have you checked out the song "Rasool" on that album...it's the fucking jam...as a matter of fact the whole album is nice.

2. Jaco Pastorious on the HEJIRA album of --
-- Joni Mitchell.

An awful lot is asked of him on that recording. But he comes through. He died not long after that. I miss his mastery of the instrument.

6. What Old Crusoe said...
Hejira sounds amazing, in no small part due to Jaco.

7. "Killing Me Softly" cover by the Fugees.
That's a must own album. It also includes a great Wyclef Jean cover of "No Woman, No Cry." Plus plenty of great original stuff.

If you haven't heard it on a decent system, I highly recommend it.

8. "The Score" was a great album....5 mics
Edited on Sun Jan-30-05 01:29 AM by TroubleMan
but I'm talking about basslines here.

My favorite jam on "The Score" was Fugee-La (a cover of a Tina Marie song), and Zealots (using the beat from the oldie "I Only Have Eyes For You.")

Of course Killing Me Softly was the jam.
