GREIVOUS fashion errors committed by asthmaticeog in the 1980s
Edited on Sun Jan-30-05 12:58 PM by asthmaticeog
Parachute pants, black

Parachute pants, grey

Headband, bearing a Motley Crue logo, black, received as prize for successful balloon-popping at state fair

Echo and the Bunnymen hair (McCullough, attempted)

Sweatshirt, black, with some kind of puffy nylon appointments, red

Garments decorated with checkerboard patterns

Garments decorated with UK flags

Garments decorated with predatory-reptile insignia

Paisley

Cure hair (Smith, in actuality, rationalization for failure of aforesaid Echo and the Bunnymen hair)

Eyeglasses, round, blue-lensed

T-shirt emblazoned with the logo of the wuss band Simple Minds

Ocean Pacific

Leather biker jacket with logo of the band Love And Rockets painted on by asthmaticeog, later painted over, also by asthmaticeog, with logo of the band Einsturzende Neubauten

Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars, jungle camouflage pattern

Mohawk, shamefully half-assed

It's worthy of note that absolutely NO Miami Vice or Thriller-era Michael Jackson affectations were ever attempted by asthmaticeog at any time. Also, there are no photos readily available, so requests for visual evidence must regrettably be denied.

ON EDIT: Skinny tie, satin, white, printed with piano keyboard, black.

4. I wasn't BORN with good taste.
There was a period of trial-and-error. Emphasis on error.

5. Were actually bearable up until just after New Gold Dream.
Not for me, mind - but there is something in the early work that was lost when the Big Stadium Drums came in.

11. New Gold Dream is a desert island disc for me.
It's brilliant. Sons and Fascination and Sparkle in the rain are also great.

After they scored with Don't You Forget... they just lost it all, whatever that was.

3. I had shoulder length hair that I could back-comb into a Smithesque mop.
Sadly, this was in 1992.

7. I never did the madonna wanna be look. But, you can
only imagine what I did get into! Docs with a mini skirt, lots of studded leather, Clash pins, Purple spiked hair, all my earrings on one ear. Thanks for the reminder. :P

It was really cool, too that I went to a totally preppy college where I swore that the school colors were pink and lime green.

9. Blondeatlast's grievous errors; lordy, lordy.
Burgundy hair

Vintage layers a la "Pretty in Pink"

Mall store punk

Rubber bracelets

Too much jewelry

Baggy pants with spandex tops

Spiked hair (God help me)

Pumps with EVERYTHING

A brief fascination with Goth, liked a tiny smattering of the music (Siouxsie) but I though the clothes were tres chic (again, mercy)

No vinyl or latex where it could be seen...

about landlocked people in Ocean Pacific clothes, myself.

17. Never owned one of those, nor Van's, nor a Swatch watch.
I made my mistakes, but mine derived from the videos ON MTV, not the commercials.

Yes, I apologize for my smuggity!

18. At least you didn't list acid-wash jeans
They were the worst abomination in fashion history surpassing even the bustle.
