Poll question: I DESPISE BOOM CARS; BASS-LADEN PARTIES - SOLUTIONS?
I've said I hate these boom cars, as well as overly bass-laden home parties. They give me massive amounts of stress.

(For those of you who think hating these things is "racist", please move on, I will be ignoring all such posts, I've done the debate before. Nobody has been able to successfully justify people of ANY ethnicity invading MY space with their nois.}

What's the best way to handle it.

3. And making it the only instance in which mob justice is allowable
get 20 guys to go after the car and rip it to shreds, and that should be legal.

And you're right - I, too, tire and get sick of the screams of racism for not liking boom cars. Screw it. Volume is uncivil and unnecessary, period.

5. On the brighter side...
perhaps a good longterm investment plan would be to drop a couple grand into "Miracle Ear" stock, seeing as 15-20 years from now, the damage to the cillea (think I am spelling it wrong) in their inner ear will cause a boom in the hearing aid market.

I hate it too. Not a matter of racism, IMHO. It doesn't matter who the culprit behind the wheel is, nor what the music on the stereo is. (I would be upset if someone with one of those stereo's was blaring classical, or opera... lots of young white kids blasting hard rock around here)

11. Hey, in my neighbourhood...
I've heard classical-music-powered cars go by, also a lot of dinosaurean metal, and one weird guy who seems to think it's very cool to blast what sounds like Hungarian or Romanian folk music. The prevailing ethos amongst these louts seems to be that they like their music so much they feel compelled to share with the rest of the world.

My main problem is that I'm prone to migraine, and subsonic sub-woofer thudding starts my cranial veins twitching...

6. "How Do You Afford Your Rock & Roll Lifestyle?"
The mystery to me is why that's even considered cool in the first place. A normal boombox actually projects the *music*, so that others can hear what you apparently want to force them to hear and therefore understand how hip you are and what great taste you have, etc. These in-car systems only transmit the bass frequencies and the sound of the car itself shaking to pieces from the vibrations (as an automotive enthusiast and racer, I can tell you that sound is the scream of a car in serious pain and the sure sign of an automotive poseur). What is the point of this? Listen to how I damage my car like a moron? Try and guess my tastes from the fuzzy muffled beats that could be anything from rap to speed metal? There’s a song by Cake that describes the situation perfectly – “Rock & Roll Lifestyle”.

“Excess ain’t rebellion
Your drinking what they're selling
Your self destruction doesn’t hurt them
Your chaos won't convert them”

7. The one consolation
is that those boom car drivers and riders will all be quite deaf somewhere down the road.

I understand hearing loss is a serious problem for many musicians in symphony orchestras, also.

8. It's like the urban mating call or something... I even have one OLD
guy who drives a MINI VAN, dude has to be in his 60's, with the boom boom boom thing going.

It has gotten quieter in my neighborhood lately, I do think that eventually these guys really actually get sick of the noise as they grow up a bit.

It's a fad. We don't have a very transient neighborhood, so I think that my offending neighbors are growing out of it.

9. They do outgrow it, the problem is
that there is always someone new to take their place. I live about a block from the high school on a main street and each year have a whole new crop of idiots passing down my street booming their brains out. :argh: :-(

10. Yeah, might be time to either move or get REAL friendly with your
local city council members.

Both choices require lotsa work.

13. Call the cops. Trust me on this one. It's what sets the ball in motion.
If they get a heavy enough volume of calls concerning the same thing in a specific neighborhood, they will be instructed to start looking (well, listening) and begin to hand out hefty tickets where before there was little incentive to do so.

Nothing racist about wanting impolite jackasses with image problems to shut the fuck up with their 100db base beats.
