No Tact...not a minor bit of it!
My fucking friend tonight...his birthday..yes he was really drunk. BUT, out of nowhere, I walk into the kitchen at this party and he says "Hey Jer Ryan's sister wants to bone you." The girl is like two feet away, I don't know what to do, so I ignore it and keep talking to my friend. Seriously, what is there to say? It's not like I ain't interested, she's a nice girl and I've been kinda working on something. But me ignoring it may make her think I'm a total ass or not interested..not to mention, the embarrasment she must feel. Fucking guy! Why are some people the way they are??????

1. oh, next time focus all your attention on apologizing to this girl
for the vulgarity and disrespect that your friend displayed against her.

Are you in a pretty young group? No one talked like that when I was young. (we might have thought those things, but never said them)

And no one except arrogant drunken twits usually talks that way...her brother was right there...I don't understand him, if someone said that about my little sis in front of me..lights out

2. You did the best thing...
your friend is an idiot who has little respect for women, but I suspect you know that, and if you don't already, you will soon.

But, you did the right thing. Ignore such stupidity--your friend did it for attention, whether negative or positive. By not replying, you did not give the fool more attention than he deserved.

I am SURE the girl appreciated you ignoring such a potentially embarassing statement about her. It was the best way to go. She does not think you are a total ass--If you would have responded to your friend, however, she might have. You, heyhey, were a gentleman.

4. On second thought,
Call her up tomorrow and tell her how you felt about that guy saying such a thing in front of her.

And then ask her out for coffee.

Spin it into a date, dude.

6. Yeah, even with the age difference -- laws for attraction don't change
And you genuinely feel like he disrepected her. Obviously. I wish you had done a lights out on her brother for not defending his sister!

And if you fall in love with this gal, take her away from all those awful guys, including her brother.

Luck!

8. So far, you did good...
Now follow through. Let her know you're not an asshole (she already knows, but she'll appreciate the fact that you care enough to try to convince her).

And ditch your friend. Man, he could do SERIOUS harm to your love life with a few carefully placed remarks like that. You sure he's on your team?

9. You never miss by taking the high road
By not even responding to your friend's outburst, you showed the woman respect. Even if the two of you do not end up together, she will not forget what you did (didn't).

Long story short: you done good.
