Rediscovering Ministry - Where's XNASA?
I don't know why but Ministry sort of fell off my radar around the mid nineties but iTunes has led me to rediscover them (him) again. Great music and soon I will purchase his new album. XNASA, if you talk to Al, tell him he is not forgotten in the least. Great stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Twitch is an awesome album from the old days. That really brings back some clubbing memories. Phew!!!!!!!!!

1. Have you heard the new album?
I saw them live a few weeks ago, and it was ridiculously kickass. The first time i've EVER used earplugs at a concert

2. I'm jealous
The only song I have heard is the anti-Bush song. Can't remember its name.

4. it's called "No W"
"ask me why you're being screwed, and i'll give you the answer; theres a Colon, Dick, and Bush just hammering away"

that album got me into the other albums; I believe it's called house of the moles, but i may be wrong about the exact words

11. I should have worn earplugs.
My ears are still ringing.

And that was from the Filth Pig tour.

3. Is this a trap?
Checkout this site. It's where all the true Ministry fans are at these days.

6. Heck no!
I just knew that you knew him at one point. If you talked to him, another fan is back in the flock.

Thanks for the link.

9. I last spoke with him in October....
They played here on Al's birthday and it was a little nuts backstage so I only said "Hey. How's it goin'? Happy Birthday...."

I spent more time chatting with Jello Biafra who was also at the show.

(Am I namedropping? Yes. Shame on me.)

Al's very anti-W, there's no doubt about it. But since he's not very subtle about it, I'm not sure how many he's actually converted. The weird thing is, it seems like Ministry shows attract a lot of skin-heads and bikers....people who seem very right-wing.

12. Perhaps some, but....
I've gotten into a couple of flamewars on the prongs website with RW Ministry fans.

Don't get much support from the mods over there either.

13. That is too bad
They are probably too stupid to recognize the anti-RW stance and are simply attracted to the agressiveness of the music. Typical RW thinking or lack thereof and simply act from an emotional rational than rational point of view.

14. Hey XNASA!
Thanks for that link! I love Ministry! You know Al? Is he flattered or disgusted that Rob Zombie wants to be him? Every time I see Zombie I think, "LOOK! It's the poor man's Al Jourgensen!"

15. I don't think that Al gives it much thought.
For a guy with such a big body of work, someone who has performed all over the world, Al pretty much keeps to himself and a close group of friends. To be honest, I've never heard him slag another artist. Well, maybe jokingly, but for someone who comes across as so fearsome, he's actually a nice guy.

5. I saw the Evil Doer Tour

It was a non stop assault!. Houses Of The Molé is a great album. Every track on it is Anti-Bush. I heard Al recently interviewed on AAR by Garafalo.

On a sad note Ministry performed here in Columbus the very same night Dimebag Darrell was killed just a mile away. Al and members of Ministry were very close with Darrell.

7. I knew they were close
but I didn't know they were performing the same night. I'm still pissed about the Dimebag thing. Too bad that freak was killed who shot him.

17. Yknow, I was just thinking about the old stuff too...
I had "Twitch" out and listened to it again. And then "Land of Rape and Honey" which is still one of my altime favorites. And then "Mind"....and then I dug up my VHS copy of "In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up", which also featured Jello Biafra....

Although I'm not really into the aggro/guitar sound as much as I used to be, I can still appreciate Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Revolting Cocks, and some of the early electro groups like Front 242, Cab Voltaire, etc. They're miles ahead of the competition, IMHO. No way NIN or Rob Zombie will even TOUCH these guys...

19. the show opened with a guy in a shrub mask
everyone in the crowd was boing and throwing stuff (this is in central ohio). then a guy walks on stage, holds a fake gun to "shrub"'s head, and a puff of pyrotechnics, and the shrub guy falls down dead. then the opening samples of No W started
