Eddie Izzard As Dr. Who? Possibly, According To Tom Baker

Doctor Who (TV): The BBC reports that whilst no final decision has been made as to who'll play the famed Time Lord in the proposed new TV series, there's already potential names flying around. The fourth and generally favourite of the Doctors - Tom Baker (who played The Doctor from '74-'81) talked with BBC Radio Live Five the other day and mentioned that he'd heard the Beeb had selected that 'dressed to kill' comedian himself Eddie Izzard for the part - a choice that's "perfect, one of the best things the BBC has done". Baker went on about the choice "Eddie Izzard is so mysterious and strange. He seems like he has lots of secrets. You always feel Eddie Izzard knows something you don't, or has been somewhere you haven't been. I like the way he dresses. He could probably do his own wardrobe." A spokesman for the BBC though says Baker's comments are pure speculation, nothing more. "Jonathan Creek" star Alan Davies and film/TV actor Richard E. Grant are the bookies favourites for the role. Grant in fact already played the part in a 1999 Comic Relief spoof segment entitled "The Curse of the Fatal Death" which had the likes of Rowan Atkinson, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant & Joanna Lumley in the part.
