not even close, but I like football, baseball, and college basketball. If some people think I'm a redneck or whatever, then so be it. I know what I am. I also treat sports as entertainment, not life. Having said this, GO CUBS!!!!!!!!!

3. All Of Them
You tend to lose your reality amid a bunch of stats.

I just like seeing a good game and knowing the team was managed right.

You'll have to explain the rules of Hockey to me; that sport isn't real big in Kentucky.

19. I 2nd that
Sports are an industry. Managed, the cost to watch a game is astronomical, the players are extremely wealthy and well-paid for what little they do for the advancement of society, and everybody wants to advertise in games, use the field as a means of advertisement, or just get advertised. It's all corporate therefore it's all freeperdom.

33. sports are non-partisan, but golf, lacross and tennis are freeper???
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 03:53 AM by mrbill
The golf defense league has to come into action here. No way golf can be considered a "freeper sport". Please expond on your theory. Have you ever actually been on a golf course?

Sure, some freeper-types might play golf a few times before they give up and throw their clubs in the lake. Every once in a while they might be able to hit a big drive off the tee with one of them $400 space age drivers, but then the fun and frustration begins.

To play the game well requires hand and eye coordination, a fair amount of natural intelligence or common sense, patience, creativity, a respect for mother nature, plus a strict loyalty oath to the rules of play.

A freeper calling a penalty on himself? It's not gonna happen.

Why is lacrosse a freeper sport? Isn't it only played at girl's prep schools? Not exactly a hot bed of freeperism. By this logic snow-sking would be a freeper sport.

Tennis? In my entire life, i have never met a freeper-type that had a clue about tennis, maybe ping-pong.

Friday night football in Texas really brings the freeper-types out.

38. GOLF for sure
White, rich men excluding women and every other minority.
Plus it's a sucky spot- if Rush can play it, it ain't a sport :puke:
Wrestling, the WWF, is the ultimate freeper sport, IMHO.

44. golf is not a freeper game/sport
Whoever said that rush could "play" golf. He can go through the motions, but he is what is known on the course as a hacker. No way his lard ass can break a 100 and that does not meet the defination of playing golf, that is hacking. Even chimpy could beat rush.

If you can break 90 you have a chance of really learning how to play the game/sport, break 80 and you are almost there.

You might be thinking of country club golf as "white, rich men excluding women and every other minority". You need to visit your local muni and see something quite different.

At my local muni the breakdown seems to be about 40% white guys (not all of them are rich), 20% women, 15% black, 15% hispanic (don't bet with these guys) and 10% juniors. Everybody seems to get along just fine.

46. Thank You, Mr. Bill
I really resent this continuing perception. I'm as liberal as they come, and i am passionate about the game. WAY more golf is played at public facilities than at snooty country clubs. (NGF stats show it at about 88%.)

It's nice to see someone else defending golfers, other than me or GOPIsEvil.

Just because the dorks at ESPN tried to make it a Limbaugh paradise, does not impugn the entire sport. The righties have tried to make nascar and hunting into Republican sports.

11. NASCAR. Without question.
A bunch of good ol' boys from the South in cars which are rule-limited to using 1960's technology, making left turns at high speed for 400 to 600 miles. Sounds about their speed in terms of complexity and technological advancement. Not to mention that a high percentage of the fans probably only watch to see the crashes.

NASCAR is probably more freeped than most.

I sat behind a republican Union Ironworker in Boston today. I was awed by his lack of fundamental political understanding.

He called Oakland a Liberal Hotbed. Until he remembered where he was.

34. Absolutely correct, NASCAR and baseball
I live in Las Vegas and frequent sportsbooks throughout the city. The white males who hang out there are overwhelmingly conservative. Baseball and NASCAR are their passions, the ones they thrill to debate even during the offseason. And when the NASCAR circuit visits Las Vegas each year, my friends who work in the sportsbooks say they are flooded with future bets on baseball from the NASCAR visitors, much more than on any other sport.

The conservative columnists like Geogre Will slobber over baseball like it's a metaphor for everything they value. Football is far too complicated, so many moving variables with endless permutations, for them to completely understand, like the nuances of successful government as opposed to simplistic tax cuts.

36. Please.
Obviously, this entire thread is about generalizations, but that one takes the cake. It's clear you haven't been to a baseball game in some time, however, if you are going to make that comment.

Any way you cut it, football is preferred by freepers over baseball. Political conversations at NFL games always lean to the freepers compared with those at MLB games. Nevermind that the NFL is the most TV-based, propaganda-PR loving sport around. If that isn't freeperville, what is?

And we all know white males love their BASEBALL and NASCAR. Americas past time, and the hillbilly 500 lap comerical.

Roach hockey
Sheep tag
The ever popular 'fishing with dynamite' (a sure winner on ESPN)
The equally popular 'crush the beer can on the forehead'
Pin the tail on Bubba
The textbook toss (if it goes into the fireplace on the first
throw, it's double points)

There are many other such, but I am tired and not very creative tonight.

See the minorities put helmet on thier heads, so you can barely see em! And on top of that they get hurt!!!! Thats what's it about. - I could see a freeper posting that.

I'm surprised Hockey and Soccer got the votes they did. Probably because I am biased, they are the only two sports I can really watch on TV.
