Can't get my kid to sleep..What would JimmyJazz do?
My poor sick husband is telling him a story, but the kid is giddy with exhaustion. Just can't get him to sleep. :(

2. I finally did it. He's asleep.
It was tough, but he's so damn sweet. At one point he looked at me and said:

"Mama, you know what? I think it's a really good idea to have a friend just like you."

:loveya:

8. last week he told me:
"Mama, you know what? You're so good! You're so good...in my life!"

I'm going to be devastated when he hits whatever age it is when they start to pull away and become more independent.

10. He's so sweet.... even when he does
it probably won't be that bad. It'll probably be cute and you'll be proud he's growing into his own little person.

We have this pool at the clubhouse where we live and in the summers I go down and read. Well every summer I noticed this grandmother bringing down this little girl to swim, so I became friends with them. The little girl is named Kylee. Anyway she's three and I swear she is the cutest, sweetest, smartest three year old I have ever seen. She talks like a little adult and she has really good social skills. Like when "grammy" wheels her and her baby sister into the pool she sees me from clear on the other side and yells "How you doin over there cadence?"

She breaks my heart she's so damn cute. I want four just like her. I hope that I get to experience that. :loveya:

13. He'll still be loving.
A loving child is a loving child. Period.

I used to dread the day, too, but mine is going on 11 and hasn't lost the very loving aspect of her nature. She gave me a valentine just today.

And I found a business card of my husband's in her school binder. She had drawn a heart around his name and wrote "Daddy" above it. I asked her about it and she said she always keeps it with her to "keep him close." And she carries his old dog tags on her keychain.

I love that kid.

Don't worry--it's a THRILL watching them grow up!!!

7. Aw! You wanna know what olivia said? She asked, who's this on the
radio? I said, "It's the Beatles." She said, "I get it." Me: "get what?" Her: "they're the Beatles because they have a beat." Yeah.

9. She's a smart kid.
As long as we're bragging...

Last year, when he was almost-two, I took him (and his dad) on a bizness trip to NY. We ended up at The Jazz Standard with a bunch of execs from the Blue Note label - they were kind enough to invite the husband and kid along, and get special permission from the management to smuggle in a not-quite-two-year-old.

About halfway through the set, he stands up in his seat and says: "Bebop!!!" I was a proud mama.

14. My daughter will be, too!!!
On the 13th. She was 1 1/2 hours away from being a Valentine baby.

I must say that I have also had some similar conversations with her. They do say some of the cutest things!

:)

19. Very cool, LOL! You got it!
Warmest winter in quite some time, too. I never wore a winter coat the whole time I was pregnant!

I also remember how I felt as a mom-to-be watching the events of 9-11 unfold. I remember feeling that I would now be bringing a child into a much different world than I thought it would be. How about you?

20. You pegged it exactly.
That was a terrible time to be pregnant. Terrifying. Was this your first child too? For about a week I was convinced I had made a horrible mistake deciding to bring a child into this world.

But a few friends took me aside and said: "With all this pain, and all this fear, what you're doing is giving us hope. Who knows what wonderful things your child will do for the world?"

Made me feel a lot better.:bounce:

18. When mine was that age?
Stay with her, hold her, rock her, pat her back, shush her, play some soft music on a CD (very soft) or sing to her.

I did that MANY nights. I'd just curl up in her bed with her and sing.

Now I say "GET to bed!!!! It's past your bedtime, young lady!"

Just kidding. I don't say "young lady."

LOL
