1. you got to start lplanning ahead, no cokes, start reducing activity and
keep them from reving up around bed time ..no sugar deserts. get them to play calming activities.. not shoot em up movies, or car races...head them off at the pass.

its easier, regular schedual. read in bed if not sleepy, no reniging on the rules.

3. My eight year old is a night critter
Always has been. She gets no caffeine, almost no sugar, just doesn't want to go to sleep. I thought it would change when school started, but it didn't. She just complained that school started too early.

When she was three, she started telling us that her feet were talking to her, and that's why she couldn't sleep. What were her feet saying? "Stay awake!"

The feet have been silent for a few years now, but she still doesn't rash out until after eleven. She's put to bed at eight.

5. my son gets the giggles
I seem to remember being the same way when I was younger. My son has always been a late to bed kind of kid. I think some kids are just hard-wired that way. ;)

4. Good luck
I'm a night owl and so is my kid. From age 4-12 it was next to impossible to get him to sleep. Luckily, my kid is now an almost 14 year old who has grown almost 6 inches in the past year and a half. Tonight, he tucked himself in at 9:30. He'll get himself up at 7:30 too! It will get better.

After that, stories and hugs.
