1. I suspect you are focused on a younger group of leftest than myself! :-)
"Models Alicia (top) and Shannon (below) sre finalists in a Sports Illustrated competition."

I can remember what I did back then - I just do not recall why!

4. I have a weekly feature called "Fun Friday"
and I though that pretty pictures would be a change of pace.

I've posted more political cartoons for the "Fun Friday" than pretty pictures.

Even for today's column, there was the political aspect that a man is objecting to the Sports Illustrated show on the ground that it over-empahsizes appearances. I wouldn't have run it without some connection to politics.

2. Done! I like that you shame your worthless governor--have you considered
sending e-mails to the local media about your blog? I suspect there might be someone who would pick up on it. Granted, most journalists are scum, but you gotta keep plugging away.

Oh, and once I get my blog up and running, I'll be buggin people for 5 minutes also!

3. How would I phrase the letter so that they would do
something with the information?

6. First, find a columnist in the newspaper that you like--obviously someone
who's a liberal or at least not a disgusting troglydite (God only knows if I spelled that correctly). Begin by basically praising him or her, and note that you appreciate that he or she covers a lot of topics/subjects/events that don't seem to get much play elsewhere. Yada-yada-yada--then, after greasing the skids, talk about why you started your blog--to write about things that aren't usually covered. And include the link, maybe part of an article, and say that this might be something he or she might enjoy reading about.

Hope that helps--remember that you need to compliment him or her right off the bat. They probably get a lot of hate mail, so start the letter this way. Good luck! It may take a few letters before you get a response--then again, maybe you'll connect after the first one.

10. LOL! You must be in PR. I think some respond to those kind of tactics
but put yourself in the writer's place. I would appreciate a sincere letter and request more than a smarmy one.

That's how I did it and I worked in media relations for 15 years.

11. You know, I used to work in PR!
And you're right--they get so many smarmy letters, when a nice one comes along, they at least read that one!

12. True. Not long ago a reporter wrote me thanking me for a
nice letter. Guess she'd been getting tons of hate-mail.

21. Yeah, one I wrote to thanking her about her column on gays, and she
wrote back (e-mailed) right away and said the hate mail was pouring in already--this was the same morning that the column appeared.

20. Just be yourself. That's my point.
Don't lay it on thick, unless you like that sort of thing yourself.

I've been getting more comments on my blog-articles by conservatives than by liberals.
