Would you do this for me?

I know I haven't been here very long, so you may not know me yet, but I'm asking for your help. DU has so many members, I know it can be a powerful force.

In March of last year my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She's been taking chemo treatments for almost a year now.

Anyways, my dad called this morning and he had to call an ambulance to come get her. Her blood pressure is very low. I'm over 200 miles away, and I feel so helpless not being there.

Would you please just say a quick prayer, light a candle, think good thoughts, whatever it is you do, would you do it for my mom?

My dad is dying from cancer, too. He was told around Thanksgiving that the chemo wasn't working, he couldn't have more radiation, and we should think about calling in Hospice to help with his care. We were told he had maybe two months left. He is bed-bound now, and hospice helps with his care. He's on so many meds to control his pain that he is rarely very lucid. He's taken a dramatic turn for the worse during the past week, and he may not have many days left.

I drive up to visit every other weekend ... all the way from Atlanta to central Ohio. I'm glad I can help out the few days that I'm there, and visit with dad. We are very fortunate that dad has been so "cheerful" during these last couple of months ... he is full of love and constantly tells us that. I think he is pleased with his life and has very few regrets. I try to concentrate on those things, and it makes me feel better to know that he feels that way.

I wish you the best, and hope that you get some support to get through these difficult days. You are in my thoughts.

I know what you're going through, I went through the same thing with my Mom. I was lucky the US Army transferred me so that I could be close to home.
