Dude, I busted my ass to get where I am. I'll be paying back law school tuition until my grandkids can marry. I worked for years doing "scut-work". It took me YEARS to actually get the job, going for it EVERY time there was a vacancy, in a wide variety of jurisdictions covering a HUGE geographic area. There was some luck involved, but I'm where I am because I busted my ass for DECADES.

10. It's not a "law enforcement" position...
in the sense of going out and arresting people.

It's a part of the Judiciary. It involves no advocacy. And I don't have to carry a gun on-duty. I DO have to be impartial.

That's about as far as I can take the description, considering how much the Freepers would absolutely foam at the mouth for me to be in this position.

and if it's what I think it is...make sure you take your heart meds and see your doc regularly to keep the stress in check :) (even the stress we LIKE isn't good for our hearts)
