2. This is gonna be depressing...
I had a sub-10 second 1/4 mile Vette. Street legal, sort of.

Then, I had my daily driver, a hopped up 87 Buick Grand National. Man, a straight line was my best friend.

Now, I have lots of dogs to tote around. I'm (non-regretfully) driving a sportwagon. Jeez...am I grown up, now????

None of mine could crack 12s, however. But I have a new mill that just might do that. Wanna expand on the 'Vette?

12. She was hot.
I bought her as a 1980, low miles. She had those Vette curves.

The 350, of course, was lacking in power. But, a posi Dana rear end was a good start for a stock ride.

Pulled the stock plant. A 427 block dropped right in, of course. Muncie made the shifts (thank the diety of rears that the Dana she came with was sooo sweet) change. A Rockcrusher was made for that car. Had to beef the chassis. A blown windshield wasn't for me. A B&M roots charger dropped on top. Went with 4.11s so I could still drive her around town.

My first run with this rig was a disaster. Wheelie bars were needed. The 1 foot drop from take off was bad. Ran a sub-11 that night.

Then came the single stage NOS and gutter pipes. She roared. No tubbing was needed. Just some MT slicks and a good bake in the bleach. I dumped the quadrabog for a Carter with rat jets.

I kept all the orig. parts. Put her back together as she was born, but sent her with her new improvements. I had to go to college, and she was a bill I couldn't afford.

I still miss her.

14. Dana 44 was stock, if memory serves me.
I blew one of the spiders in the bleach pit once...just once.

I was probably pushing 600 hp without the juice, and 800-850 with. Only ran the juice on the track. Blue bottles are expensive to fill.

I have an old video of us running vs. an IROC on the street. T-tops off, a little chassis twist, and a Camaro left looking for where we went. She was black on black, and that juice was sweet.

17. Ford 460
Not a stroker. Reworked passenger car heads (by a wizard who knows how, serious CJ-style flow from lo-po castings), solid roller, Victor intake, Duraspark dizz with MSD 6AL box, mild compression for the street. The carb is a worked-over 3310 Holley. Too small, but it will do for now. It's backed by a C6 and all shoved into a '58 Ford.

The car has the stock 9" with 3.25 and Traction-Lok. If I ever get it to hook well, I'll bust something out there. Well, I'm upgrading front to rear. For the track I have 4.56s.

It's raining in SoCal, so no joy launches this weekend. Various circumstances have conspired over the weeks since I installed it to prevent me from running thru the gears.

19. I can smell the burning rubber from here.
A 460, worked, with Edelbrock and Holley add-ons and a C6. Yeah, you're gonna need gears and serious rubber to put that down. Hope you've planned the suspension, cuz that launch is going to be severe.

Severe is good.

I decided that since the 460 stuff was cheaper than a big inch FE, I'd go ahead. Fortunately, Crites Restoration makes headers, mounts crossmembers to allow a bolt-in conversion. Eventually I'll update the webpage.

10. Sweet! If I were still in Texas, I'd be tempted.
But, I think it's an early Falcon Ranchero as the next project. Something useful, and with the six. A TO3 turbo and Megasquirt EFI might allow good accelleration and decent milage with a T5 trans.

16. Nothing interesting now...
... a couple years back I sold my baby - a 1993 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo. I bought it from the original owner 6 years ago. It was black/black.

It was stock when I got it, I added the ECU (computer), boost jets, cat-back stainless exhaust, pop charger (fancy name for K&N-style inlet) and JWT clutch.

It was a sweet ride, and it was hard to keep the wheels from spinning, even in second. :)

But then I bought some land and I realized that the Z wouldn't even be able to get to it. It had to go. :(

32. They are both 1958 Oldsmobile Super 88's
The wagon is the Super 88 Fiesta Holiday (hardtop).

The 4dr is the Super 88 Holiday Sedan.

My wagon is (was) Aqua blue with a black roof. It is currently torn apart down to the frame. The 4dr is Dark Blue.

The standard engine in a 1958 Olds is the 371 with a 4bbl, although they did come with a 3x2 tri-power.

I know of a guy who races one at the strip. I'll look for a picture.

43. I really lucked out
when i got this car....all it really needed was some engine work
and elbow grease. Im the second ower it came from California.
Its taken about 2yrs. but now have it in great shape. Everything
is original alot of new parts under the hood and replaced alot of
small things to bring it back to originality.
Like the knock-offs had the wire wheels repowdercoated, right down
to the Lucas headlights. We are pretty lucky here we have a place
called Team Triumph which deals in all British Parts so its easy
to obtain original parts. Even a Triumph horn! BEEP BEEP! I can
hardly wait for spring to drive it again its a fun little car and
not one you see everyday. My friend which is also my mechanic
got me into british cars a few years back. He's got a TR6. I
can thank him for the finishing touches! He loves these cars and
spends alot of time on both his and mine. Wish i was better at
posting a picture of it. I might not of learned how to post a picture
yet............but i've learned alot cars.

Sadly, I'm currently without a rod (driving a lifted, 4-cylinder 4Runner for the time-being...and driving it very slowly, by default).

But, post-divorce, I have my eye on an '05 Mustang GT (Highland Green, de-badged, Eaton S/C), or building a Caterham Super Seven Roadsport.

In the past I've built a few hardcore 302s and 351s... mostly for other people.

That Super Seven is an exciting car. I wonder if a SBF would fit? Probably would not need it. WHat engine would you use?

The 460 will probaly be the last big mill I build. I'm thinking of gas and gas shortages. The idea of a Super Seven and a late model 4 is interesting. Still, I gotta keep on a plan, and the Ranchero seems the proper course.

47. I'd go with the 1.7 litre Ford Crossflow
That's 135bhp for 900lbs of car, and it's a far more reliable motor than the Kawi or the Rover 4-cyl.

Roughly 0-60 in about 5 seconds.

...and SBF would seriously overpower and unbalance the Seven...assuming it could even fit.

especially the Cudas and Camaros.

In my younger days I tooled around in a couple of 64 Impala Super Sports and a 70 Chevelle SS 396.
Sure miss those days, I couldn't afford to keep iron around like that these days.

My last street sleeper was a (don't laugh) 78 Dodge Aspen with a 340 out of a 73 Dart.

Which engine did the Cuda have?

from the 71 Charger around until a couple of years ago. I totalled the car in 1983, sold off most of the salvageable parts but kept the engine and 727 Torque-Flite.

I still have the all-metal doors with SE interior panels, have no idea why I kept them.
