Girl, 12, Accused of Strangling Sister, 9
A 12-year-old girl is accused of killing her 9-year-old sister in a dispute over a hamburger.

The girl was charged with murder under the juvenile code, and a Family Court judge will decide if she should be tried as an adult, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Tuesday.

The sisters were home alone on Dec. 22 when the older girl reported finding her sister lifeless on the floor. Authorities could find no evidence of violence, and Medical Examiner Michael Graham ruled the cause of death undetermined.

But police received a phone call from a social worker Feb. 1 saying the older sister was in a hospital psychiatric unit suffering visions and nightmares. Police said she told staff at the hospital that she strangled her sister during a quarrel over a hamburger.

So the cause wouldn't be undetermined. It's fishy...

9. There is evidence of strangulation
From the story:

On Monday, Graham ruled the case a homicide and said the victim had injuries on her neck that were consistent with strangulation.

16. Strangling leaves some pretty obvious signs
Like small hemorrhages on the whites of the eyes. They wouldn't have had to do an autopsy to find some evidence strangulation.

Yet the cause of death was "undetermined."

This one stinks to high heaven.

10. Sounds like schizophrenia
The onset or outward manifestation of schizophrenia has been known to appear age 12, i.e., the beginning of puberty. Although the more commonly recognized age of onset is usually between ages 16-20, it is not a rare occurance to start evidencing itself earlier.

What makes true the statement of comparing the the incident over a hamburger to the eating of meat? Seems to be a specious argument, even callous.

Why do we have Juvenile codes anyway, I have a 16 year old and he is not an adult. This is getting ridiculous!

13. Happy meal isn't
There's many reasons for strangling your younger sister, but a hamburger isn't one of them.

I have a younger sister and I wanted to strangle her for:

  • Telling mom to make me turn down my Pink Floyd;

  • Telling mom to make me turn down my Black Sabbath;

  • Playing her John Denver records too loud;

  • Marrying the only guy she dated;

  • Being a general pain in the ass.



Now she's 45 years old with two children and a cop for a husband. I'll let him strangle her.

Naturally, I'm using "strangle" in the playful sense. I'm so non-violent I don't even tear open envelopes.

18. Tape recorders are a wonderful thing.
I completely nuked my younger sister from orbit with one. Similar setup, "I gonna tell mom you were swearing, if you don't let use the #$%^ing stereo, &sshole", is almost an exact quote. After she had pulled that trick 3 or 4 times I set up cassette recorder and caught her in the act. She was 12 and I was 15, and my mother just about wet herself when she heard her little angel not only setting me up, but cussing like a sailor.

20. Mine go to General Discussion !
I broke the "Baby 81" thread on LBN yesterday because it was breaking on all the MSM channels. And here I was afraid it might be locked for being a dupe, I even did a search first!

We have a new mod team and LBN rules, so maybe we (generic) just all need to get on the same page :shrug:

...or just submit our posts directly to the mods before we get our hearts broken again...LOL.

21. Mine got moved to GD:P and it was NOT political
It was an article about the mother who cut her baby's arms off not having to stand trial.....found it on a news web site that day I posted it to LBN and it WAS a new development. I know the mods are new but concistancy would be nice...they seem to be moving LBN stuff kind of sporadically while leaving threads in LBN like the PIG that was injured by a taser was allowed to stay there forever....Drudge's witchhunt of Chris Rock, etc...?????????????
So then I get gun-shy and start posting LBN in GD or GD-P and within a few hours, the same article is posted in LBN and is allowed to stay there, causing dupe threads in two forums :shrug:
You know it is NOT a good sign when you go to check "my posts" and you see "1 reply" in the LBN category...it means they moved it elsewhere. :(
