My jerk neighbours bought a freaking pig
I've been complaining to the city for weeks about the dog that barks day and night. A letter was finally sent last week.

They spent the weekend hammering and sawing. Turns out they were building a pig pen. Now I can't open the windows for the stench.

GAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Complain again.

Where do you live? :-)

17. Lakeside, Ramona, Alpine, Jamul, alot of East County are zoned for that.
You may be shit out of luck, my friend.

19. Except for the stench
The cops have told me that "quality of life" is a factor they have to consider.

In this case, the pig pen is 15 feet from another house, and upwind from an entire apartment complex.

Oh, and I believe it's on an easement that's supposed to be free of construction, too, but that's an old fight I'm not getting into, since we're likely moving from this complex this summer.

9. San Diego has zoning laws. Do you live in a suburban area?
If so, animals like that may not be allowed.
I lived in ESD and one of my Vietnamese neighbors bought 2 cows. Kept them in their back yard. The noise and smell was so bad that I called SDPD. The zoning ordinanve wouldnt allow cows in that neighborhood and they had to remove them.

10. It could be worse ...
When I was a kid, my uncle owned the Sale Barn in our little town. To make a long story short, I always got the runt of the litter and was tasked to slop about 30 pigs each day after school.

Yes, the stench sucks pond-water. But at least your neighbors don't feed the piggy whey.

That smell! That mixture of whey and pig shit scent, smells like a combo of a Pig Shit - Cheese sandwich. Um, minus the puss on top.

Arrrrrgh! :puke:

So hey, a little Lysol spray here and there (and everywhere), you're good to go. LOL

11. for those with zoning law questions
we're technically zoned for livestock, sorta. As far as I know.

But the smell is not zoned legal. As the sheriff told me, quality of life overrides someone's desire to have a dog or pig.

15. Barking dogs is one thing, illegal LIVESTOCK is another matter
Try http://www.sdcdeh.org/ - Tell them you are experiencing a fly problem, and that runoff from the pig pen goes into a municipal storm drain.
