Guess wha-ut I did!
So, I call the Boss Lady this morning and ask her if I'm supposed to work today (she left that very up in the air yesterday). She laughs, all shrill and nervous, tells me she hadn't thought about that, then tells me no. She tells me that she'll tell the temp not to come in tomorrow, to give me a chance to work. Gee, nice to know that I'm such a f*cking afterthought! So, I ask her when she intends to run payroll (today was payday!), and she says she'll call me when it's done. At noon, she says to give her an hour. At one, she wasn't there. I finally got paid after 3:00. The temp looks lost in Quickbooks, and was asking me questions about performing basic functions. Boss Lady was expecting me to answer them. Let me get this straight...You tell me not to come in, you're not paying me, and you want me to train my potential replacement? HA! Sorry, gotta go.

During the time that I was waiting for her to tell me that payroll was done, I put in the calls that needed to be made. I wonder if I'll still be working for her when the IRS sends the investigator.

1. I would find another job if I was you .
Your boss lady sounds like she does not know what she is doing . And you should not have to put up with any of that . Either they want you , or they don't . This is money , you have bills to pay - this job sounds unreliable . Good luck :)

2. Yeah, she's a real piece of work
She's been jacking me around for weeks now.

I'm supposed to go to work tomorrow...I have to wonder why. I plan to find out exactly what her intentions are though, this is crazy. I have a good shot at another job, I'm hoping I get it!

12. I am hoping like hell
They closed it today (quit taking resumes), so they should have the top ten picked soon.

3. Oh yeah...
She knows that I'm the only income in my house, that I have two growing children, and she doesn't give a f*ck. Know why?? She's a repug!

4. It may not be her
She is being told from above. It sounds like she doesn't like doing what is being asked of her and hesitates. The worst part of my job was telling people I didn't need them because of budge cuts Are you a temp or perm worker?

5. She may care, but can't show it unless
your boss is the CEO.

7. Ok, to clarify
It IS her. She and her husband own the very small business. I'm a permanent employee, was never a temp, and I've been there since October. I was a little too happy the day Boxer stood, and things started getting nasty then. My hours have been toyed with for a couple of weeks now, and now a temp is being brought in.

6. Was wondering about your last question...
would be hard working in a perm job if one had to check the day before to see if one was scheduled to work (and get paid), or not.

8. Yeah, this is fun!
See, Monday, I went to work, and was told to go home at 10:30 because a temp was coming. Then today, I was told not to work at all. :wtf:

9. Ugh (on your behalf),
sounds like a) it is time to get that resume back in circulation and b) that her foolishness will, in the end, bite her in the behind.

11. My resume has been submitted for a position
that pays twice as much as her, and it's union!

Trust me, the IRS will bite her behind off, after the conversation I had with them today.

13. Forget her
and look for something else. Let the IRS and union take care of her. Before you quite check with the union.

17. Yes, go in
Don't give her anymore reason to get rid of you so fast. Keep going in until you get this other job (hopefully). Where's you resume'? Monster has a great page that gives you tips on certain "words" to put in your resume'. Believe me, it works. Hubby did it 3 mths ago, now working at Lockheed Martin and STILL getting calls.

18. My resume is all pretty and perfectly worded
I used to get paid to type them for other people, so I know all about these things.

Yeah, I know I need to go in, but jeebus, I don't wanna!

20. Well, the temp is supposedly
there to help me. You see, in four months, I haven't been able to completely clean up the bookkeeping mess that it took them three years to create. Since there's only one computer in the office with Quickbooks on it, I was sent home so that she could become acclimated.

Yeah. OK. Whatever.

21. Well if you think she is going to fire you
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 12:46 AM by notadmblnd
then call her on her BS. Ask her "if only one person can access the application at a time, how is a temp going to increase productivity?" The temp could only be of any help is if you two work different shifts.

ps.. make her fire you so you can collect unemployment

22. Well, she says that she's going to get another computer
When I started there months ago, she told me that she was going to buy one for me (the one I use is technically hers, but she's never there anyway). I think she's test driving the temp, while stringing me along.

I won't quit, I know the game of unemployment well.

I can't get a straight answer out of her, she does the repuglican dance very well.
