Job Dilemma
I went in for a job interview with a non-profit organization, and the interview went very well. However, I'm concerned about some aspects of the job that I'm applying for. For instance, the salary is $24K per year, but they offer an health-care plan that you "opt" into, and if you do that, they deduct it from your salary. So, with the health care plan "option," the salary would be reduced to $20K per year, and I wouldn't be able to afford that. Should I accept this job or keep looking?

2. I could take the job without insurance
but I really need a good health care plan due to a medical disability.

4. How good is the health care plan?
When they say that they deduct it from your salry, they usually mean that you are paying for it before taxes through them deducting it from your salary rather than you writing a check and sending it in to the insurance company. My company does insurance this way. I see the deduction on every check, just like I see the tax deductions.
If this plan pays for everything, it is a good deal. If it is a normal insurance, you might want to see what other health plans you could get elsewhere.
