Museum gets $400m donations

The Dallas Museum of Art is to get donations worth as much as $400m (£213m), including three extensive art collections, a house designed by the architect Richard Meier and a Monet painting valued at $25m.

The donations announced yesterday amount to the largest combined gift in the museum's history. They include the collections of Marguerite and Robert Hoffman, Cindy and Howard Rachofsky, and Deedie and Rusty Rose, The Dallas Morning News reported.

They include 800 works from the 1940s to the present by Jasper Johns, Richard Serra, Willem de Kooning and Gerhard Richter and others.

The museum valued the Hoffman collection at up to $150m, plus a $20m endowment. The Rachofsky art and house are valued at $50m.
