I just cleaned up my 401k account- what a mess it was!

My employer uses fidelity as the 401k provider and we have about 100 investment options. Over the years I have contributed to some off the wall selections due to the events of the times. I was in select air transport, I got into that one after 9/11 because the airlines lost a lot of value and I figured they would come back. I was in energy services and energy funds with all the Enron/gas price increase ect....

The problem was I didn't monitor the funds at all. I ended up having 20 different funds in my account. I just went in there today and transfered the money into four funds based on the 15 year return. Nothing glamorous or exciting, Mid cap, blue chip, Value and international. I am not going to change anything any more! I may not get the absolute highest return but I won't have to watch it at all.

I know there's going to be massive federal deficits, so I move more money into government bonds.

Of course I made a spreadsheet to track mine, putting in every buy information and calculating my break-even price. Then again, I only used four funds.

Did you consider that at all? It is absolutely abhorrant to me that liberals and Democrats don't put their money where their mouth is. We could change the world overnight if Democrats paid attention to the business practices of companies they invest in.

Unfortunatly the options I have include none that are based on ethics/politics.

I even asked about "Responsible Investing" at the intro seminar and the representative was clueless as to what that meant.

But since the plan limits what I can buy into, my options are limited.

But if workers fought harder, then maybe people at these seminars would have to know what you're talking about. This ought to be a union issue too.
