Ever feel like you don't get enough sleep?
Happens every so often to me. I usually get up between 6:15am and 6:45am and that's not the problem, I think it's the fact that 5.5-6 hours of sleep isn't working for me anymore. There are times that I don't get to bed until around 12:30 or 1 and the drive home at 5pm is hell.

Are you, or do you feel, sleep deprived?

At least five days a week. Wither the neighbors are noisy, or (more likely) I have to go pee, or I can't sleep because of the migraine, or whatever...

I notice that the sleeplessness comes in cycles, and I've come to the conclusion that it's stress-related.

Any new stress coming your way?

If I got up later that would help so much more. When I get up at 5:30 a.m. to get to work on time and get 8 hours of sleep, I feel so much more tired than if I get five or six hours of sleep getting up at 9:00 a.m. on a weekend. I guess my circadian rhythm clock is not set for early waking times.

6. With Insomnia Everything is a copy
of a copy....of a copy.

I usually go to beed between 4 and 5 and get up at 8, so yeah, I never get enough sleep

8. Dude! When I was in college I had the same problem.
Even when stone sober I couldn't get to sleep until 2-3am and had to get up at 7, god that sucked!

Fortunately that passed.

10. I've been this way since 14
and then I had to get up at 6 so it was always 2-3 hours of sleep a night...caffiene is a friend

I have insomnia (which runs in my family)I'm usually am up till 5 or 6 in the morning then sleep for a few hours, back up at 2 in the afternoon, than sleep for awhile again in the early evening. I am tired all the time.:boring:

14. I can't remember the last time I had 8 hours of sleep.....
Pretty sure it was before December 12, 2000 though. And even though I don't live in California, last night I was lucky to get 3 hours.:hangover:

16. If you wake up feeling very tired in the morning instead of refreshed,
you may have sleep apnea and of course there is a $10,000 cure for that. But if you have insomnia with sleep apnea, there is no cure as far as I know.

20. Sleep apnea
My husband does sleep studies for a living. Usually, if it's a severe apnea, you need the aid of a Cpap or Bpap machine which isn't that costly or complex. A bit obtrusive though I'm told. If you think you have apnea, call your doctor and he can order a sleep study done on you. It checks brain wave and breathing patterns while you sleep.

26. I Have Sleep Apnea
I have severe sleep apnea, with an AHI of 64 and an O2 sat rate of 69% when (finally) diagnosed (I had been told that I was "too thing, too young and too female" to have it). I think it took me 10 minutes to get used to the CPAP, and now I literally cannot sleep without it! I can even hold a conversation while wearing it. I sometimes think what 'obtrusive' issue in compliance is that is looks so damned silly.

A full sleep study in a lab is not necessary to diagnose sleep apnea; it can be done at home with a oximeter. It's a lot less expensive and intrusive than a visit to the sleep lab, though further testing may be necessary to differentiate between central, obstructive and mixed apnea and to diagnose any other sleep problems, such as Restless Leg Syndrome.

Surgery such as UPPP has a 75% failure rate in treating sleep apnea. There is another surgery, tracheostomy, that is used successfully when C/BiPAP therapy fails.

It gets very frustrating sometimes and I am a zombie the next day. I don't want to take anything to help me sleep because I don't really think it is quality sleep.

I definately know some of what you are going through.

I should be in bed right now, but here I am, and 5:55 comes awful early.

On the weekends, when "Satan's Klaxon" is turned off, I get to bed around midnight or midnight-30 and wake up for good around 8. This doesn't count the diuretic-induced 3-4 trips to the piss-pot during that time.

The first thing I'm gonna do when I retire is take a BFH and grind my alarm clock into dust.

up until last week I spent 8 weeks getting up at 5am, driving 180 miles to work. After work I'd drive the 180 miles back and get hope about 8pm. That really knackered me up.

I'm getting up at 6.45 now but even 6-7 hours isn't enough for me. I think with me it's the getting up early stuff. I can go to bed 2 or 3 am and don't have the same problems if I get up at 9 or 10 am.

30. i do, i get up at 4.30
I try to get to bed at around 8 or 9 pm but it just feels wrong to just work and then get to sleep i HAVE to have some free time, going to work at 5.30 and coming home at 7pm and just sleep feels so wrong, so sometimes i just stay up to 11 or so.. and feel like a mess in the morning.

I feel sleep deprived constantly last months, even when i get to bed early, i dont know what the problem is to be honest.

i can add i work 7 days a week

I just woke up, it's 8:30 am. And yes, I REALLY feel sleep-deprived on many occasions. It was thought that I was an insomniac, but it turns out from my doctor that it is some sort of circadian cycle disturbance. It's believed that it's some genetic flaw. My dad has lots of similar problems with it too.
