Technically, I just got all new accounts, so it's not that bad. But I must admit, that I haven't written anything in my register since....1994 maybe.

1. Doesn't Make You a Bad Person, But That Would Drive Me Nuts!
I'm pretty obsessive about keeping my checkbook register up-to-date. I learned the hard way once when I had a string of bounced checks - each carrying a hefty fee ON TOP OF the fee charged by my bank. Came up to over $300 in fees.:wow: :grr: :puke: If you can manage it, more power to you, but I prefer the peace of mind that comes with knowing how much money is in my account at all times

2. I haven't bounced a cheque
I do check my account online, but even before then, I keep a pretty good running tally in my head.

3. i like to keep it simple.
my check book never leaves the crib. i use a spiral note book like a ledger for my checking account. on the street it's cash or CC.

4. I write one or two checks a month.

I have to pay my rent by check because my building manager can't accept online payments, and sometimes there will be some other thing I prefer to write a check for. But mostly my bills are paid by automatic electronic transfer from my checking account. Well, the ones that are the same every month are automatic--I have to fill in the amounts on the ones that vary. I do keep my checkbook register filled in, but I reconcile it by accessing my account online. For shopping it is easier to use my debit card than to write a check.

Funny, two years ago when I moved in here I ordered checks by mail and took advantage of an special offer to buy 4 boxes of checks for something like $8.00. I used to write checks for everything and thought I'd need them, but I don't expect to live long enough to finish off all four boxes since I've gone electronic.

5. Hello...are you my daughter?
Just kidding.

She never writes anything down either. Drives me bonkers! It works for her but as her mom, I still have to nag her about it every once in awhile. :)
