4. True...
... but at least last year's "finish" (ahem) wasn't short on excitement...

:dunce:

Remember the year before (2003) he won the most races that season and make rookie of the year. I am hoping for a repeat of that season, only with a better showing in the points race.

3. DEI and the #8 car....I think Jr. may be a closet liberal.
He did like Fahrenheit 9/11 said "I think everyone should see it"

Pissed a lot of rednecks off!

23. But he still voted for Bush!
At least he said he would on 60 Minutes. He said his daddy was a Republican and that's why he was a Republican. I see that a lot in my friends and family from back home in my red states. It's just like picking a favorite NASCAR driver. They'll cheer for the Republican team no matter how inept they are - because their daddy did.

12. If you are watching the race on some mega-huge swine cable connection
Try during a commercial to check the pay-per-view high end channels.

They are offering a "free" preview of "NASCAR IN-CAR" where you can select about seven drivers, and view the in-car cameras without commercial interruptions.

When Anti-American scumbag FOX goes to commercial, which they do about every 30 seconds, switch to this channel for all racing all the time!

Not hard, but still...

...it cost him big... because now they just (apparently) had to dick around with his right front fender on pit road...

Although to his credit it wasn't on purpose...

20. nope, i think he's alright
i'm kinda ticked at these cautions. the last one erased a huge lead Gordon's pack had and this one wiped out a move Gordon was putting on waltrip.

i don't know, i think sometimes NASCAR creates "debris" so there can be a caution to bunch up the field when the racing gets boring.

"i don't know, i think sometimes NASCAR creates "debris" so there can be a caution to bunch up the field when the racing gets boring."

I have though that before too.

Sometimes I could swear that it has happened too many times in Dale Jr's favor for it to be a coincidence.

They never happen when you want 'em, always when ya don't.

40. i was 1 of about 10 Gordon fans........
Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 07:04 PM by rppper
...in a sea of Jr fans....easily 100/1...when Gordon was leading i was all mouth too...a few "fans" behind me started to bust my balls on the last 10 laps, but when Gordon passed before the caution, you could have heard a pin drop...grumbling about a yellow flag finish again(like Talladega last year)...and the finish...i stood up, pointed at my hat, then their hat, and just kept saying "champion...contender....champion...contender..."i talked waaaaay to much smack today for Gordon to lose.

god almighty....and someone mentioned this earlier too....those f'n debris cautions were bullshit...nascar gives the DEI and RCR cars everything they need to win....look at harvick...no fine, no warning, no nothing...stewart would've been fined for that stunt harvick pulled, but RCR/DEI racers can do no wrong in the eyes of NASCAR. and don't even bring up the fine Jr got for cussing...nascar had no choice as they had fined another driver the week before(and all the Jr apologists were still in a huff about that).

i have no beef with Jr other than the fact his fans have bought into the hype that he's as good as his father, and just won't accept the fact that he's still batting .1000 when it comes to NOT winning championships...he'll get his day soon, but people are expecting waaaay to much from him to fast.

they should be lucky he is as good a driver as he is...the other alternative is Kerry Earnhardt<chuckle chuckle>....

45. I share the same feeling..
... about Jr.

And it is just so cliche to me, the whole Jr. thing...

And I really do think the NASCAR establishment favors him him. You probably didn't hear the TV broadcast since you were there, but you should have heard the voices of BP and the other guys announcing the race when Jr. got up front. And even before he got up to the front, they were already talking about him like it was a sure thing he'd be up front.

Who else do they talk about like that when they are in 6th or 7th place? What did they know that we didn't?

Then you could hear the dismay in their voices when Gordon took the lead. Needless to say there was a huge smug grin on my face.

All those dejected Jr. fans. Tsk Tsk. Have a nice ride home from the race! Bwaahaha!

As for the debris cautions... yeah I wonder how many times that "debris" will benefit somebody who is a favorite before it stops seeming like a coincidence.

Jr is money to them. But how fair is it when the governing body for the sport favors one particular driver?

I don't think they go so far as to actually *fake* a caution or fake a call for him. But, I 100% believe that this fact is true: When any particular call that NASCAR has to make, be it a caution or some other official call they have to decide on, if they are on the fence about it and it's debatable, they will always go with what benefits Dale Jr... Always!

Heyo
