Update on Sirius
Sirius had yet another good day. Four or so in a row now. Good nights too. Today was the 48-hour benchmark since the chemotherapy Friday morning. The oncologist said that adverse reactions normally occur between days 2 and 5 after the treatment. He is on anti-nausea medication and the prednisone (which makes him pee like a race-horse on Lasix). He is frisky, happy, bright and alert. Sirius has a voracious appetite, which I am exploiting for future strength against his cancer and chemo. Ironically, he is tolerating young Nick-Nick better, too. The old-dog grumpiness seems to be gone. With me, he seems to be more loving and affiliative than ever (and that was always a lot!).

1. Awww..glad his fight kicked in
my dog is down at my feet farting up a storm...it's raining outside so he doesn't want to go out to poop...he'll hold it forever to avoid going out in the rain.

4. Same here. Raining like crazy. Sirius is farting up a storm.
It smells like a cross between Heineken beer and Starbucks coffee. But he will go out in the rain. That is how bad he needs to pee every couple of hours.

9. Nick-Nick is slick-slick.
And quick-quick! When I got him at the Dallas SPCA on Bastille Day 2003 (his full name is Cannicula de Bastille) he was called Deon. When I saw him run I understood why! Deon Sanders.

6. Great news, I hope he continues to do well.
It's been raining in Chicago as well. Snow last night, that turned to rain today. I cannot wait for spring.

8. So chiburb said....
But we did all say hi to you... Had a great time with the usual suspects. I imagine some of them are still partying. My mother has a bad cold and I felt like I needed to get home...plus my lurker friend had to drive home to the 'burbs.

There will always be a next time....

12. Glad to hear it
That voracious appetite and energy is a result of taking the predisone, but I am certainly happy to know that he tolerating everything well. :)

13. Thanks Maestro
You are right about the prednisone. But it has evidently reduced the inflammation in the lungs from the cancer. He is bright, happy, and alert now. What more can I hope for, at this point? I know too that this respite will be short-lived. One-day-at-a-time now means a lot to us. Know what I mean, Vern?

17. I'm sure they will want to get Sirius
off the prednisone eventually, but if it helps him, the doctors need to keep him on it as long as they can.
