History of America : You learn more about it in College

I don't know about you, but when I was in Elementary and secondary school they told us that the Revolutionary war was about being over taxed. That was not the case. It is only here in college do I get to see the real picture.
Why didn't they teach us this stuff in High school. I would have been able to stay awake!!!

3. No holds bared history

Pointing out flaws and showing us the nitty-gritty about what was going on. I had no idea that the Colonist was already given the rights of all Englishmen and was suppose to not have to worry about external taxes. And that if the English just went through proper channels for the taxes that there would have been less trouble that what happened. And about the sugar tax, all I ever heard was about the stamp tax! Why did they leave out so much in High school?

This stuff rocks!

I don't know. I learned that stuff in high school. I must have, because I took no history at all in college. But then I graduated in 1966 before education turned into something that hits the fan.

The colonists revolted over taxes that were much less oppressive than we voluntarily (sort of) pay today.

but then again, I'm Canadian - we studied everyone's history but our own. (Almost anyway.)

4. Woa! when I was in eight grade I was taught it was more than taxes

it was lack of representation, having no voice, Sam Adam's spinning, and at first the colonists wanted a peaceful resoultion but then George III instead prepared to ship a few thousand troops.

Shows how much the education system in America must be reformed.
