ran across this on MeFi . . . there's a $100 entry fee, and you have to want to escape to the wilds of the north . . . not for me, but there's lots of great writers on DU, so I thought I'd pass the info along . . . let us know if you decide to enter . . . especially if you win . . . :)

Alaska also has one of the highest rates of ice cream consumption in the U.S., go figure.

4. essay contest

Wow What a nice prize for the winner. I called the people that are running this contest. It is very for real. They registered the contest with the State Attorney Generals office before advertising it back in July. Call them if your sceptical.
