8. It's from a Saturday Night Live skit.
It involves the song "Don't Fear The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult, which has a prominent cowbell throughout the song. I know there is a link for the clip, but I don't have it handy. Maybe a fellow DUer can help.It's VERY FUNNY, and has Christopher Walken in the skit.

I'm straight too, but I strongly support a lot of gay issues, such as gay marriage.

I piss a lot of people off sometimes with that...

Women who have gay friends seem to be more accepted. If you're a straight man and your friendly toward gay people, people start looking at you funny...

7. Wish you were in Kansas.
We are knee deep in Anti Phelps and the Right Wing right now. We have an election in 6 days to defeat a ballot initiative brought around by Phelps that will allow open discrimination against gays on the city for 10 years. Think Cincinnati, same law. We are small but willing to sacrifice sleep, family, clean laundry etc. until Tuesday night. We are a small, slightly pungent group and we are bulldogging our way through the community one phone call at a time. I do wish you were here.

13. Well....
They will not be included in the Hate Crimes laws but the most important part is that the city can ask them if they are gay before hiring them and can fire them if they are. They could also fire them if they suspect they are gay. It simply stinks but this is the home of Fred and everyone seems too afraid to actually do anything against him, he has really scared the city.
