Oddly and terribly, I've been considering giving up drinking.
Edited on Tue Feb-22-05 07:42 PM by HEyHEY
For a while at least, lately when I'm drinking I seem to go into these weird mini-depressions. And I start thinking about everything that sucks. Next thing I know, I'm in the corner all grouchy with a chip on my shoulder. Then I go to bed and wake up with a headache.

It all is really absurd.

However, I'm a drinker. I like tearing loose and late nights are one of my favourite things, or used to be.

I really suppose I should write a pro/con list.

Anyone ever just stopped? How did it go?

1. Change your drink of choice.
Well, actually, if you feel it is part of depression, then you need to quit/see a doc. But I have noticed that whisky makes me violent/depressed, beer makes my lethargic, wine makes me talkative, etc. What do you normally drink?

9. Never one to tell someone to NOT stop drinking, however
try finding a different booze. I bet your mood changes. Become a beer connesieur for awhile and drink the expensive stuff. I bet you'll enjoy it.

on edit: ever have a TRIPLE bock? That will mess you up. $$$, tho.

2. I'm taking two weeks off
'cause I'm doing South Beach. Sucks, because I really miss my nightly vodka and tonic. But I figure it won't hurt me to give something up for a while and, who knows, maybe I'll start again in two weeks, maybe I won't! It's all empty calories anyway.

Ahhhh.... but a nice v&t after work..... sigh.

5. I used to be a pretty heavy/regular drinker
I also noticed the grouchy thing.. and the headaches.
Then one night I acted like a real ASS to one of my best friends.
The behavior was embarrasing enough to me personally that I stopped drinking the next day.
That was in 96. Since then I drink maybe twice a year. No biggie.
Now I dont see what the appeal was.

lol

10. I'm not drinking anymore, but
I'm not drinking any less either... to quote a corny country song... :D

Seriously though, I don't think I could've survived the post-election days without alcohol.

11. inspiration!
I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

12. I always thought, when I was a kid
that I liked beer and drinks so much, I never wanted to like it so much I'd have to give it up forever. (My folks let us have halfs and sips and stuff) I'm glad. When I worked at the hell that was Nordstrom, there was a period of time When I drank a lot. I stopped. now, I hardly ever drink. Saves money and feeling crappy the next day.
It's a good thing to put down for a while, especially if you think you should.

13. I can drink, then not drink for months.
I had to stop drinking as much as I did - beer guts and the shits are not that good for me, for some reason.
