wood planer shenanigans
I was running some wood in my planer and the instructions said not to plane wood less than 14 inches, well 6 inches is almost 14 right? WRONG the planer blades his the wood and shot it at me at like 573992 miles per hour and hit me right on the tip of the thumb, man the thumb must have like 5720210 nerve endings. Half of my thumbnail peeled back like can 'o' tuna lid.

See I'll attach pictures if need be to show off my stupidity, would our president do that?

Please feel sorry for the stupid, I mean me, not bushapanzee

2. I feel so bad for you. That must hurt. No pictures needed. Believe me,
I'm married to a man who shot his hand through with a nail gun, slammed his unmentionables between two pallets, on accident...I could go on. I empathize with your pain. It's what I'm good at. :)

5. So, what have we learned today?
At least you admitted you did something dumb. Most people (guys especially) would have found some way to blame the machine.

Much as I like power woodworking tools (especially my favorite, the router, grunt, grunt) I still don't trust them. Just as a reminder, I have a sign hanging over my table saw that has a large arrow pointing down and the words "The Whirling Blades of Death" in bright red letters.

But do you want to see something really cool? There's a company that makes tables saws that sense when theyhit flesh instead of wood and stop the blade SO FAST that you can only get a nick at the worst.

There's an astonishing video (using a hot dog, not a finger) at http://www.sawstop.com

6. I saw that on TV
they want to make that safety feature industry standard. I love my router also but when I'm using it in a router table all I can think of is a bit spinning at like a gazillion rpms ready to take meat down to the bone. Damn a router bit has no sympathy for us does it.

8. Machines are dangerous things. My husband is a CNC programmer and some
of the machines are the types you can crawl inside, which makes me nervous. One of the machines his company purchased had killed someone. And I guess it was law that they had to tell the purchaser and also provided pictures. I was happy it was not a machine my husband works on.

10. I would never
crawl in any machine with a blade in it, well unless there was like Mrs Baird's Cinnamon buns on the other end.
