Anyone watch the "One Day at a Time" reunion last night?
If so, WHY?

Due to some incalculable set of events my wife found this previous unadvertised TV event and we watched it. Actually we used to watch the show quite a lot when I was younger though I don't remember why-it could have been that my mother was a single mother at the time or it could have been Valerie Bertinelli-I'm betting on the latter.

Anyway it was fairly well done but the whole thing looked like a Lifetime movie-the lighting and the set everything had this glowing hue around it.

The treatment of how to discuss Mackenzie Phillips appeared to be the work of several committees but it was addressed throughout the show and I have to say that Bonnie Franklin seemed determined to address it as a "sickness" which is correct and she did so on several occasions.

Snyder was there looking as dapper as a super can.

I had no idea that show was on for 9 years.....1975- *gulp* 1984

1984??? Really?

I think that is about the time Valerie and Eddie Van Halen got together (I had to explain to my wife that aside from being Mr.BigRockStar this CEMENTED Eddie as a god to young American males).

6. LOL NO they mentioned Glenn Scarpelli

God I had forgotten all about that guy. At first I thought it was Adrian Zmed. His character reminded me very much of Gazzo appearing ont he Flinstones-totally unneccessary a waste of time.

8. Yes-looking pretty good too
Mackenzie looked fairly okay in that formerly completely strung out but okay now way. She did very clearly say that she was tragically wrong in her decision making.

They showed some clips of her that were really hard to watch. She was incredibly thin. I guess if you watch it happening you don't notice as much-one shot was her in a sweatshirt (to add weight I would guess) and the seams on the shoulders were 1/4 of the way down her arm-very frightening.

5. I recall Phillips being fired
but I don't recall her being wrote out. Any recollection of how they did that? Was she back at all for this? I just have to know!

7. They just said that she left
They kinda sort discussed it but not really. It was an interesting ice skating exhibition to watch.

9. At the time, I recall her being interviewed, after she was sober.
She said she was fired, and that they were right to fire her.

She talked about weighing 90 pounds, and how hard it was to get sober. I think she talked about relapsing, too.

11. Ask me how I can recall everything about a show I hated!
Must have been because I was young, and the television always had to be on, so I was switching stations all the time, and would see part of this dribble.

12. I hear ya. I think the fact that it was on Sunday night probably
helped its viewership. It's one of a few Norman Lear shows that never connected with me. Uncool people trying so hard to be cool was the impression it left on me.
