1. Death.
By unga-bunga.

Nah. I voted for Aerosmith. I mean, back when they still ate, drank, snorted and shot every drug on the planet. Ever since Pump, I've just wished they'd go away.

2. I'm really disappointed to see Aerosmith is not running 3rd in this poll
Once again DUers show their lack of taste and/or good judgement

3. I voted for AC/DC, but I hate all 3.
Atleast AC/DC had good guitar work that didn't regress into musical masturbation. *cough*vanhalen*cough*

6. Definitely Aerosmith
Sure, there's cheese among much of their later work, but they're consistently the best band.

Same is true of Van Halen, though I don't care for much beyond some singles post-David Lee Roth. But their debut album is one of the best albums of the seventies.

I'm amazed AC/DC won this poll. That voice is an abomination in the history of recorded music! No, really... :-)

7. I like all 3 bands.
Van Halen Rocked like nothing. But VH died post DLR departure. There were a few good singles from Van Hagar, but they sucked compared to Roth. Early Aerosmith was beyond excellent. Most of their post comeback stuff was good, but I did not like "Just Push Play" at all. That and their post comeback stuff was cheesey compared to their earlier stuff and it did progressively go down hill. AC/DC is a great band. I know a lot of people don't like the singing and it can be an acquired taste, but "Back In Black" was one of the best Rock Records ever released. Furthermore, they stayed pretty consistent with their approach. They still rock pretty hard in 2005, which not a lot of bands that have been around since the 70's do.

9. Yeah
I know what you mean about different voices being acquired tastes. For example, I like Geddy Lee's voice and Dennis DeYoung's voice, even Billy Corgan's voice, but have just never cared for Brian Johnson's. I do think AC/DC is a musically talented band; just not one of my favorites.

11. All three were great at
one time or another. I was fortunate enough to see all 3 live in the mid-'80's and none disappointed. The AC/DC show in '85 and the Aerosmith show in '86 both rank in my top 10 shows of all time and I am a snobby indie music type.

Sadly Aerosmith jumped the shark around '89, AC/DC ran out of gas and Van Halen still needs DLR.
