the breed began in the early 1700s when ship's cats from Norway bred with "cats of the forest" in Maine (Bobcat and lynx), thus the heavy boning and "lynx tips" on the ears. They are VERY large cats, too; Puck, seated next to Oberon in the first two photos, is a good sized cat of about 9-10 lean pounds. Fortunatly, they are also extremely gentle animals, great with kids and dogs.

Edgar (l) and Leo (r) are the only two cats from their mom's first litter. When they're not busy fetching toy mice, they are busy rasslin', chasing laser pointer beams, or rolling around on the floor whenever I play guitar (which is often). Oh, they also enjoy taking over laps, crawling under the covers on our bed, and getting their tummies scratched.
