Teacher Had Sex In Car With Teen With Her 2 Y.O. Strapped In Car Seat
<snip>

A 30-year-old female intern teacher at McClatchy High School was arrested Saturday and accused of having sex with a 16-year-old male student in her car, while the woman's 2-year-old child was strapped into a safety seat in the back, authorities said.

Margaret De Barraicua faces felony charges of statutory rape. Detectives believe De Barraicua and her student have been having "an ongoing consensual sexual relationship for several months," said Sacramento police spokesman Sgt. Justin Risley.

The teenager is in a language and arts class that De Barraicua has taught since September when she started her paid internship at McClatchy High.

De Barraicua, who is married, was placed on paid administrative leave Tuesday pending the outcome of the investigation, said Maria Lopez, a spokeswoman for the Sacramento City Unified School District. "The school district took immediate action and dedicated resources to help the police in their investigation," Lopez said.

Before the internship, De Barraicua worked in the district for about two years as an substitute teacher. Her internship is through a partnership with California State University, Sacramento, where she takes classes, and the school district.

Interns are required to go through the same background checks as credentialed teachers.

Although relationships between teachers and students happen from "time to time" it has never been an issue in the internship program, Lopez said.

7. Fuck. Some dudes just get all the luck.
What was I doing when I was 16?

Well, one glance at my finely-defined forearm muscles answers that question. I was probably fantasizing about my language and arts teacher.

10. When I was a child
...we never HEARD of this shit. EVER!! Has it always gone on, but was just not reported, or is this new? The odd teacher who messed with a student was usually a male, and he was run out of town on a rail, sent to jail, and shunned. Every so often you'd have some fellow who tried to mess with the lads, as well, and he too, was off to the pokey.

We never heard of women cutting near-term fetuses out of other women, either. That's another "fad/fashion" we could do without.

And then there's the men killing their pregnant wives/girlfriends. New, or underreported?

And women who are so severely postpartum (psychosis as opposed to depression) who kill their kids....I had heard of one woman (she was in a bad way, went to the "home" and never came out) who set the nursery on fire, but the child was rescued. This was a SCANDAL, a one-off, poor dear, she's "mad"...or so we were led to believe.

I realize that a lot of "news" happened, but in the old days it was never reported outside of a particular city, or state, or region. Cable has changed all that.

It would be interesting to know if these things are happening with greater frequency, or if they are being reported with greater frequency. Or, if the reporting encourages copycat behavior...

Inquiring minds want to know!!!

14. Just reported more often, I think
These cases aren't new, but there never used to be a CNN/MSNBC/FOXNEWS to report on them when they did. They were local interest stories and simply weren't known outside of local media. It took a seriously deranged individual, like a serial killer, to make that leap into national headlines. If the Scott Peterson case had happened 15 years ago, it would have been unknown outside of the Modesto area.

18. there was a big story in my hometown in 1987
a one year old baby was stabbed to death with a screwdriver. The mother ended up going to prison for it, although she never admitted guilt and her parents never believed she was guilty. Her father was my junior high math teacher.

15. Would it have made it any better.......
....if it had been a 22 y.o. child strapped in a safety seat in the back?

No. Of course it wouldn't.

So what's the point?

Getting your freak on with your teacher is one thing, but while her 2 year old son is strapped in next to you? Nasty and wrong!
