three cheers for my nephew
he's a big burly football player. a senior in high school. thanks to no child left behind, i guess the recruiters get to stalk the lunchrooms and hallways of the schools like ghouls to collect more cannon fodder.

some marine recruiters approached him while he was eating lunch and asked him what he wanted to do with the rest of his life.

he told him didn't know about the rest of his life, but that he knew in the next thirty minutes that he would be finishing his lunch!

they walked away.

2. Good for him
My parents would kill me if I enlisted in the military and my grandpa would kill me if I choose the Marines. I don't think Recruiters should be in schools expect on "career days"...

5. Three Cheers!
Back in high school they did the same to me. Only they called my house. All the time. I used to string 'em along for a while then say something like "I really wanna join the marines, sir, but I have to be sure I'll only be barracked with other homosexual men" or "I know that it's possible I might end up in combat. Will you teach me how to gut and clean the enemy and prepare them for cooking?"

After stuff like that, they left me alone. Sounds like your nephew achieved the same result with a lot more class. Good for him! Hooray!

Khash.
