This monster isn't close to the Bugs Bunny I know.

its generation computer-assisted nowadays, with Mel Blanc having passed away, and with the innocence of the Bugs Bunny era long gone, there will never be another Bugs Bunny.

Cause that's what he looks like. From my experience, his rather "evil" apperance might attract sci-fi and fantasy fans as well as Otakus(anime fans).

"Buzz" Bunny looks like Darth Vader ran into a cheese grater.

I was planning to VOTE for Bugs Bunny, once we ran out of bad actors and muscle men and moved on to cartoon characters....but I would NEVER vote for Buzz Bunny. (Is "Buzz" on drugs?)

"President of Warner Brothers Animation Sander Schwarts says a change was needed. “What we're doing is taking Bugs Bunny, a classic, and changing him for the kids - making him fresh, cool, and hip.""

Bugs epitomizes fresh, cool and hip-- kids of any age will get it. He's TOO clever for the synergistic MBAsters of the Universe.

running on Cartoon Network. If you don't believe me, check out Teen Titans.

I have two kids - 7 & 11. That "new" look is typical of what they see every day.

Contrary to opinions here, I predict Buzz Bunny will be a BIG hit with the cartoon crowd. That's no indication of quality, of course. It's just my observation.

46. Speaking for a member of the anime crowd
Slapping a new look on an old brand doesn't cut it with us. Anime is much more than just a look. There is actual story and plot behind the image. Not just a retread on an old vehicle.

From what I am seeing this new bunny is just a repackaged marketting gimmick. Its gonna flop with the anime crowd and the younger generation simply isn't going to understand the tie in to the old school animation.

64. Bugs Bunny and mickey mouse inspired anime
and manga in a culture pretty much shell shocked from Rapid Modernization, and the loss of alot of thier traditions and culture, so they took something new to the world, and made it a part of thier own culture, they took it to depths of seriousness Far beyond anything in the west, and only recently have the american people either started to see past its bigotry of seeing "foriegn films" as artsy fartsy crap, or the generations that grew up on nothing BUT cartoons keeping that deep seeded enjoyment of those cartoons at heart, have taken to embrace anime and see that cartoons can be for more than just for kids

These guys are supposedly the 25th-century Crime Fighting Toonz.

People will like these things just because they're New and Different. New and Different sells, man. Trust me on this. They don't need everyone to like 'em--if five percent of all the people who like cartoons like this cartoon, they'll make money hand over fist.

If they don't make the mistakes they've made in the past (crappy animation and worse story lines) when they decided to do cartoons on the cheap, this should do okay.

32. Blame Corporate marketting
New ideas are not markettable. They are too risky. They cannot make predictions for budget proposals. There is no way to plan their development. For any investment of substatial proportions risks must be minimized.

And then there was Anime. American Media doesn't understand Anime. It sees the form. It sees the flurry of action. And it believes this is all there is to it. It doesn't see the story and character development. It doesn't see the respect paid to the audience. It doesn't see anything but aspects it believes it has to steal and apply to its own established brands.

Thus we have Buzz Bunny. Unable to create an original idea the marketers merely take their established and proven brand image and apply the new image they see threatening their market.

44. Good Lord. Talk about ridiculous.
From the MSNBC article here:

“We all flipped for it,” David Janollari, president of the Kids’ WB, said this week. “We just said, ‘Wow, what a great way to take the classic Looney Tunes franchise that has been huge with audiences for decades and bring it into the new millennium.”’

That's about as ludicrous as trying to "bring into the new millenium" the music of Bach or John Coltrane by updating it with techno beats. (Maybe I shouldn't have said this -- you know, "don't give them any ideas.") Or by "bringing into the new millenium" Hamlet by making him into a dot-commer. (Oops, someone's already done that -- yes, people are THAT lame.)

58. EXTREME BUGS - BARF
Horrible, but this is no surprise. If you watched any of the recent Loony Tunes meet live action movies, especially the deplorable "Space Jam," you realize that Warner Bros. is driven not creatively anymore but by-the-numbers movie making, ie. look at a demographic study, and throw in all the stuff that appeals(?) to that.

Although the new Duck Dodgers series is pretty hilarious.

The worse Bugs Bunny redux was in that godawful "Baby Loony Tunes" series. Er yuck.

79. At least it's not supposed to be Bugs.
It's a distant descendant, in a timeline set in the far future, as I understand it. So it's not like they've desecrated Bugs himself - they've simply taken a "what if" scenario and set it in the future. Which isn't that horrible, IMO. They've at least given a plausible explanation for the changes, and I admit I'd be curious to see what they come up with, in terms of characterization and story.

But, I say this as a casual fan, not a die-hard devotee, so I can afford to be curious and tolerant. I fully understand the horrified reactions of the intense fans. In the last 10 years, I've personally experienced the desecration of a cartoon series of which I was an obsessed fan, and I fought it kicking and screaming every step of the way. I dare say Bugs & Co. will be luckier than my favorites, though, because in creating a whole new series, at least they won't be invalidating the original....

80. Making DC comic characters sleeker, darker, and more menacing was...
bad enough, such as those bizarre superman and batman creations... but now Loonie Tunes gets the same psycho treatment?

Sad.
