Poll question: Do you believe that North Dakota exists?
Before you answer this, have you ever met ANYONE from North Dakota?

If you have, are you SURE they weren't lying?

Huh?

See.

I'm not sure.

They immigrated here from Denmark and owned most of one of the Dakota's, at least thats the family story anyway.

They lost it all in some kind of economic crash, don't remember which one.

But there all dead so maybe its a myth, like Atlantis

36. I've driven across North Dakota many times
If you had done that, you would be as sure that it exists as you are sure of anything.

True story: Back when the 55 mph speed limit was introduced, the cops in most states were pretty strict about enforcing it. My parents were driving back from visiting me in Oregon with my mother at the wheel. Somewhere in the middle of North Dakota, a highway patrolman pulled her over for going 65.

"Oh, but this state is so boring!" she said.

The patrolman laughed and let her go.

45. As my 5th post (I think?)
I've been to ND several times and it is not a bad state (at least in the summer). My dad grew up there and I would not want to encounter it during the winter.
Driving across it, east to west, there are fields, fields, and more fields, and then suddenly, plop, there are the Badlands. There isn't really a way to describe them, blew my mind. But I did have a great deal of fun out there, buffalo and wild horses. Great place.

:scared:

If you want to map it, it will be located 5 miles past the end of the Earth. -20 keeps the riff raff out? How smart can we be where we live in a place that from December to February we have to plug our cars into an electrical socket to turn on the block heater so the car can be started 2 hours later? In the winter you can die if you ever get stranded because it's so cold, In the summer it's pretty, yes, nice and green, but it's hard to see through mosquito netting, you don't dare go outside around dusk, the mosquitos are as big as horseflies, and if they don't bite you, no-see-ums will...if you go just about anywhere northeast of Bismarck, it's marsh because of the flooded land...but on a up note, crime isn't too bad, nice people for the most part, it's not hard to find a job around here, can't say much about the local cruisine, as I am not a fan of Lutefisk or Klub. the pic above of the big buffalo, that is near Jamestown isn't it?

68. There is a N.D., I live here
Yes, indeed, there is a N.D. You know when you are in N.D.
when the people you meet sport a black and blue complexion
during the winter, caused by frost-bite. And in the summer
time, a North Dakotan will have a red spotty complexion due to
the mosquito and no-see-ums bites.
People who live in North Dakota are very smart. They know how
to contract their nostrils to prevent freezing their lungs
when inhaling. These people also know how to constrict their
nostrils in the summer time to avoid inhaling spores from
mold, fungus and decay around the marshes and lakes.
Ragan

58. I haven't seen definite proof that it does in my mind
The people who claim they live in North Dakota or claim that they've visted North Dakota are probably all liars.

People who supposedly have 'evidence' that it does exist don't realize that the devil put the 'evidence' there to confuse the satan-worshippers and non-believers. God is testing the faith of the chosen, for it is written that ..."he who doth disbelieveth in North Dakota shall gain life everlasting." It's in the Bible somewhere, in the back I think.

60. I'm keeping an open mind
I've seen no direct evidence.

I have met people who claimed to have visited there or to be natives but they have not been able to scientifically verify their statements.

The photos I've seen prove nothing - any 14 year old could have whipped 'em up in Photoshop in about 10 minutes.

But nor have I seen any evidence or even any logically valid argument that North Dakota can't exist.

More research and experimentation is required.

Khash.
