Is name-dropping ever appropriate?

I'd say it's not. And you know who agrees? Meryl Streep, Wynton Marsalis, Peggy Fleming, and Howard Dean!

I asked what he thought, but he didn't really have an opinion so I asked Roger Daltrey, but he was in the middle of a Bulova watch commercial, so I turned to Pete Townshend and posed the same question. Pete was busy excusing himself from bumping into an intert object, but otherwise offered no opinion.... :P

To answer your question...name dropping is very, very bad.

6. When I had dinner with Brad & Jen last week

They indicated that name dropping was probably not the way to go.
John & Elizabeth Edwards agreed, but Madonna said she thought it was ok.
A big discussion broke out- Ashton said it was bad, Demi said it was the only way to survive life. Eventually everyone looked at me for the answer. I said I didn't understand name dropping and would never do it.
At which point Elton John jumped up & began applauding followed by Colin Farrell & Angelina Jolie. Then Britney Spears began writhing on the table while she serenaded me with "I'm a Slave 4 U."

Name Dropping-Like my good friend Hillary Clinton says..... it's SO 1985.
