Friday's Flame Fest - Subject: Cereal
Lucky Charms is the best cereal ever. It has toasty oat things and coloured marshmallows. How can you top that? The leprechaun is also the best cereal spokesperson. He totally beats Tony the Tiger.

Anyone who disagrees with me is a fool and without taste.

27. Oh gosh, just about everything.
Cold cereal was the one "treat" we regularly had as kids, mainly because my mom HATED to get up and cook breakfast. So she endulged us with sugared cereals.

Amazingly, I have all my original teeth - except for the ones that were pulled to make room when I got braces.

There is NO substitute.

Unfortunately, the local stores (or was it Quaker?) saw fit to remove it from both it's incarnations here. (Brand named boxed Quisp and the bagged "Quaker Sweet Crunch")

I've been in serious sugar withdrawals for over a year now. ;(

53. I've got news for you
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 12:06 PM by Arkana
Most Italians WISH their family was involved with the mob--mine actually WAS. My father's family was more into it than my mother's. My uncle Albert used to go on "jobs" with a bunch of big guys in dark suits. He used to steal all sorts of stuff from sporting goods stores, and if he got caught, he'd play the part of the innocent old man. Hell, he even asked my dad to become a hit man. Honest to God. My father, of course, turned him down graciously, but still...

My mother's family was less into it. Her four uncles, Albert, Alex, Dominic, and Paul used to run numbers, but that's really the extent of it.

So don't mess with purebred Italians. We have tempers just as bad as the Irish, but we're sneakier when it comes to revenge.

EDIT: Smiley typo and tense change.

I remember when some gangster character got gunned down, my mother exclaimed, "He use to bounce me on his knee."

Pop got tired of being chased by the Coast Guard during prohibition so he hired them to run his rum.

And we all know how much trouble the Germans can be, so bug off.

Steel cut oatmeal is the way to go.

(An artist planned a Performance Art piece to protest media representations of Irish & Irish/Americans as violent drunks. He asked his friends to send in our empty whiskey bottles--he would supply the rags & gasoline himself.

I need to see how the project is going. It should be quite a sensation on the art scene....)

But really, cereal is not at all an important part of this nutritious breakfast, no matter what they tell you on teevee.

And the leprechaun has had to go back to his day job, as senator from Connecticut.

BTW, being an East Coaster, I have never been in British Columbia. My experience of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia was that the bread was awful: even from a bakery, it was white and squishy and had that consummate blandness of Wonder Bread. Is it the same in Vancouver, or has San Francisco sourdough made its way up the Pacific Rim?
