Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 05:31 PM by Glenda
You can say things like "A, B, & D" if more than one

7. "You're not sick, you're thirsty"--my mom bought me that book....
According to this guy, allergies and asthma are aggravated by severe dehydration, if not caused by it.

I lost it....been thinking about seeing what's what about that theory...

10. I've read that one.
Interesting stuff, and there may be something to it - but it's a case of "when your only tool is a hammer, everything looks like a nail" - i.e. the author only had water at his disposal, and now he feels it's the cure for all ills. Having said that, I don't doubt that a lot of conditions could be improved and maybe even cured by being more well-hydrated - but I can't believe the human species could have evolved and survived if it had such a poor sense of how much water it really needed. So, it's a theory that should be looked into, and there's no harm experimenting (it's only water, after all), but not taken to quite such an extreme as does the author.

15. I've noticed I really don't drink much
unless I MAKE myself drink more. I've noticed it very often gets rid of fatigue too. Nah, it's not a cure-all but I bet dehydration does cause a lot of people to take pills

3. Prayer
and I can honestly say without breaking a commandment that is does NOT work.

Also, I have tried meditation with very little results, a little more than prayer ever did.

I've tried the aromatherapy too. It smells ok, but I'm still a sick sick woman. :D

4. How about an "all of the above" option
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 05:41 PM by u4ic
homeopathy only worked for my allergies, been to a couple naturopaths, take supplements (vit, min, herbs), do yoga and meditate. Acupuncture is the one that has actually helped me the most, very effective at reducing my pain and helping my balance.

5. Tried acupuncture for nerve damage
It didn't work, but I still believe it could work for other people.

(The acupuncturist said I had "very stubborn chi."

6. for high blood pressure
I had been put on pills for years but they turned me into a zombie. Happened upon an alternative MD who put me on a particular ratio of calcium, magnesium and potassium supplements that worked miracles - no more prescription pills with the awful side effects!

Have tried other alternative medicine therapies as well - more success than the pharmaceutical approach - at least for me.

disclaimer: seek the advice of a knowldegeable alternative medicine doctor when taking supplements. They need to be taken in moderate doses and in certain combinations to be effective, otherwise you are just wasting your money.

8. A, C, D, G, H
Also acupressure (not acupuncture - I'm not fond of needles), and unfiltered sunlight. I've come to completely distrust commercial pharmaceuticals and conventional medicine, and I much prefer taking my health and well-being into my own hands. In all but the most acute cases, I can do at least as well for myself, if not better, than can the "professionals" - with a lot less expense and trauma.

11. D & H
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 06:21 PM by cmf
Grew up in Lousiana. My grandmother knew all of the nasty tasting herbs that were sure to cure you of whatever was making you ill. If the herbs didn't work, you were packed up and brought to a faith healer who would pray over you.

ETA that even today I still am more apt to rely on herbal remedies than modern medicine. I rarely get sick though - perhaps the herbs are what makes my immune system so good.

13. massage, too
i voted for homeopathy, which i've been using for almost 15 years. i take my kids to a naturopath, who uses that along with herbal remedies. there is nothing like a massage, though, to get the energy in your body unstuck. i will do ANYTHING to avoid going to a regular doctor!
