How often do you clean your cat litter box?

We are having a family discussion and I was wondering how often YOU clean your cat litter? Not how often you should, but how often you actually do. (edited for typo) (sigh, someday I'll use the check spelling function)

or the one the cats poop in? :shrug:

When I kept the box in my bathroom I cleaned it more regularly because it was very handy.

I left my cats w/ my sister while I'm in Germany.

Twice a day, once in the morning, then again in the evening.

But my cats go outside most of the time, and I use regular plain clay litter, have multiple litter boxes, etc. The litter boxes are in a back room that opens off my home office, so I'm pretty aware of their condition all the time.

cleaned poop every day, new litter twice a week.

...at a time. They MUCH prefer my flower beds....

It's worth it's weight in gold. :thumbsup:

especially when you have 6 cats.

I have one that will get in the box and not go...he just likes to get out and wait for the rake to activate. Loves to watch it.

I've heard of these, but have never seen one in action or talked with anyone who had one. I am very tired of the litter box hassle and this sounds positive. Thanks

My recommendation comes with strong reservations: I'm not at all impressed with the quality or the motor power. It seems to be a very shoddily made product for the price. The system frequently gets "stuck" scooping a large clump or running into a mound of litter and requires manual assistance. It entirely misses small clumps. Our original box stopped working entirely after only a few months of use & had to be replaced. The one year warranty recently expired and I'll be surprised it this one makes it to year 2. The tent is also pourly made & very overpriced. The plastic stakes break easily & I don't think replacements are available except possibly directly from the manufacturer. My cats have already broken 2 of them by jumping up & sitting on top of the tent.

It's a more expensive item, but I'll likely purchase this one next time:

I scoop 3 times a day, but I only change the litter once every couple of weeks.

I love cats, but I will not have my house smelling of used cat box!

Every day I scoop out the clumps and dispose of them.

Every three days I add a bit of litter deodoriser and a bit more litter.

Once a week, I remove the litter (it's all neatly wrapped in a pan liner that acts as the removal bag), rinse the litter box and replace the liner, then add fresh litter.

4 days now.

Three cats, two boxes. I scoop daily, complete litter overhaul weekly.

Someone mentioned the deodorizer...I looked at the Tidy Cat stuff just the other day...over two bucks, and it's nothing but baking soda if you read the ingredients. So, I got two boxes of baking soda for a dollar. That ammonia gets my asthma whipped up ugly....which is why I scoop so often. Maybe now that I'm adding baking soda, I won't have to scoop so much.

One of our cats is HUGE, and now he's diabetic. As a result, he pees a small monsoon, and his poop is about as big as my own. Even with two litter boxes, we're constantly cleaning them. We're hoping once we get his blood sugar regulated that'll die down, but he's always had a pretty big output and we're used to cleaning the boxes multiple times per day.

sometimes it gets out of hand and i have to do it twice a day.
