2. It does save time

When I heard this idea I thought that they would feel ripped off. I didn't know the presenter would be there as well. I'm also glad they got to say thank you. Who needs to watch them take the long walk.

6. Yes, only so many aisle seats up front

the long walks stole away from their acceptance speeches (which, IMHO, they should have been given a bit more time on anyway).

That's also why you're seeing Chris Rock as host. I'm not sure anyone really wanted to see Billy Crystal yet again. :-)

It always looked unsophisticated for the winners to rise from their seats, make their way to the aisle past those sitting nearby <pardon me, excuse me>, and take the long walk up to the stage, where some of the older winners were out of breath.
