Will Scorsese ever get his Due from The Academy?
Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, The Aviator...

How many great films does the guy have to make to get some love from the Academy?

Not to take anything away from Clint, but damn.

1. The fact that he didn't win for any of the first three
Proves that more often than not Academy voters don't know shit about shit.

8. That puts Scorsese in very good company indeed
A filmmaker named Martin Ritt, who I think is terribly underrated, didn't win one, either. However, actors appearing in his films over the years chalked up 17 Oscar nominations.

Ritt's best films are Hud, Sounder, and Norma Rae.

10. "Thank you thank you for making such excellent fuckin' movies!"
This one' called Martin Scorsese
He makes the best fucking films (x2)
If I ever meet him I'm gonna grab his fuckin' neck and just shake him
And say thank you thank you for makin' such excellent fuckin' movies
Then I'd twist his nose all the way the fuck around
And the rip off one of his ears and throw it
Like a like a like a fuckin' frisbee
I wanna chew his fuckin' lips off and grab his head and suck out one of his
eyes and chew on it and spit it out in his face
And thank you thank you for all of your fuckin' films
Then I'd pick him up by the hair swing him over my head a few times
And throw him across the room and kick all his fuckin' teeth in and then
stomp on his face 40 or 50 times
Cuz he makes the best fucking films he makes the best fucking films
I've ever seen in my life
I fuckin love him
I fuckin love him

6. Will he? NEVER!!
I hate to say it, because he's turned out so many terrific films, but Martin Scorcese has become the Susan Lucci of the Oscars.

7. I wonder why the keep snubbing Marty
Edited on Mon Feb-28-05 01:23 AM by Julius Civitatus
Anyone knows why? Any good theories as to why they keep giving oscars to actor/directors over him? It's just too much.

I mean, they gave the freaking "Best Director" oscar in 1991 to egomaniac dimwit Kevin Costner over Marty's "Goodfellas."

The horror.

The horror.

The Academy is such a joke.

Helen Hunt over Kate Winslet? I lost any remaining respect I had for the whole shindig after that debacle.

11. Was if for when a teenaged Helen Hunt took angel dust and jumped...
...off the high school gym roof in that ABC Afterschool Special? Because that was really more of an "Emmy" performance.

16. Like Peter O' Toole who got a LIfetime Achievement Award
but poor Richard Burton didn't live long enough. By the way, did Peter Sellers ever get an Oscar for anything?
