Cons must be pissed to see Clint Eastwood...........
even accept an Oscar. Smooching Barbra Streisand, who presented it to him, must have galled them.:eyes:

2. He's a lifelong Republican. I rarely watch his movies because of that.

3. That's sad. He makes excellent movies.
Not everything is politics. Plus, you may be in error about his political affiliation. I think he's now unaffiliated. Has a libertarian streak to him.

6. I think you're wrong...
At an awards ceremony in New York Clint Eastwood said that he would "kill" Fahrenheit 9/11 director Michael Moore if he ever knocked on his door with a camera.

As Moore sat in the audience appearing to take it all in good spirits, the Dirty Harry star said, "Michael Moore and I actually have a lot in common - we both appreciate living in a country where there's free expression. But, Michael, if you ever show up at my front door with a camera - I'll kill you. I mean it."

Republican supporter Eastwood, made the comments at the National Board of Review awards in New York where he won a Special Filmmaking Achievement prize for Million Dollar Baby.

10. Sense of humor or not
the joke is irrelevant. He can tell a joke but be a Republican still. Just because he's somewhat likeable doesn't mean he's one of us. Just because he gets along with Hollywood liberals doesn't mean he's one of us either.

That is my point I guess.

21. Funny since I wasn't being personal towards anyone else
I sourced a Yahoo News article, if that source cannot be trusted there's a hell of a lot of LBN threads that will never see the light of day again.

There are tons of people in the media that outrage me way more than Clint. My point is simply that he is a Republican and I haven't seen a single thing (as of this post) that proves otherwise.

9. In Clint's own words, he has said that he's no longer allied to...
a party. He use to be, but not anymore. The article's writers are using old info.

12. Do you have a link to those comments?
If he's not a Republican, great but I guess I want to see it for myself. He made a comment that could be construed as a joke or not depending on what you believe that certainly doesn't lend himself to our side at the moment. So I guess it's fair to ask where he made the comments that un-affiliated him with the Repugs.

17. Here's the Eastwood quote that explains it...
“I’ve been a Republican because I chose that party at the time of my military service at the beginning of the fifties, and I voted for Eisenhower, but I have a tendency to consider myself more of a ‘free thinker.’ My political choices don’t really fit in with any of the camps, and actually I feel myself to be something of a libertarian, in the sense that I think you have to let people live in peace, respect individual freedoms.”

—interview with Thierry Jousse and Camille Nevers, “Clint Eastwood,” originally published in “Cahiers du cinema,” no. 460 (October 1992): 67-71. Reprinted in “Clint Eastwood: Interviews.” Eds. Robert E. Kapsis and Kathie Coblentz. Jackson: University Press of Mississippi, 1999 (p. 178).

18. here's another...
“I’m not in any of those camps. I’m not in Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow Coalition and I’m not in the Republicans’ camp. I became a Republican only because when I turned twenty-one, Eisenhower was running and I wanted to vote for him, as opposed to Stevenson. So I did that. And also, the Republicans were a minority and it’s fun to part of a minority. At that time, they were outnumbered three-to-one in California. So I just became that. But actually, I would say that my views are probably leaning towards sort of a libertarian point of view.”

—interview with David Breskin, “Inner Views: Filmmakers in Conversation.” New York: Da Capo Press, 1997 (p. 390).

22. Very good.
All I needed was a source. Again, I wasn't attacking Clint, I was sourcing a quote and an article that placed him as a Republican very recently.

25. Clint Eastwood and Michael Moore
Actually, I don't believe he intended those comments to mean he had a problem with Moore's politics. I think it's more that Eastwood doesn't like to have his privacy invaded.

He campaigned for Gray Davis during the recall, you are misinformed and you are missing out on some great movies.

23. He's a republican of yore, not a neo-con of today
You do know about 30-40 years ago Republicans weren't really a bad sort. And plus Eastwood has been appalled at the negativity from neo-cons bad-mouthing his movie (Mil $ Baby) because of the ending.

And he's an environmentalist to boot.

Clint is worth the $9 to buy a ticket for his movie

19. I have since been informed he is no longer a Republican
He has silently renounced his party according to others who responded when I posted a similar claim as yours.

At the least, he's a RINO.

He's for Gay Marriage and supported Davis in the recall as I have learned this evening.

24. It's brilliant, and well-deserved...
and I can't believe that people on this thread are saying they wouldn't go see an Eastwood movie because he's a Republican (which he's not). He's a brilliant director, and you're missing out for a very silly and unfounded reason.

I love Clint. I could care less about his politics, he doesn't make policy, he makes movies.
