Death of a sport star... the sad aftermath of speeding

I just watched a TV report of the funeral of Dan Snyder, the hockey player with the Atlanta Thrashers who died as a result of an automobile accident.. You may have seen reports on CNN of the accident. The car was driven by his good friend Dan Heatley, a former rookie of the year, of the same team...He was buried in his home town of Elmira, Ontario and as requested by Snyder's parents, Danny Heatley attended the funeral...They said they forgave him and hope he can find peace....It was a sad, sad thing....Two young lives....one gone, the other ruined...Heatley has been charged with vehicular homicide by the Atlanta authorities....

2. The reports from Heatley's lawyer says no alcohol...but toxicology report

has to come back yet....

4. CTV just reported the Atlanta D.A. verified today alcohol was not involved

I don't understand the charge...vehicular homicide....Doesn't homicide refer to murder, or a killing that is intentional?...This was an accident....?????
