Worst bands ever thread.
Here's my qualification: Pick a band that's within a genre that you like. For example, I don't like country music or death metal, so I can pick any of those bands to be my least favorite. But "least favorite" doesn't mean they're bad; it's just that they're not my taste. So, pick bands within a genre you like, but ones that you think suck.

My picks: Presidents of the United States of America, AC/DC, Slaughter, Nelson (the last two are 80's glam bands that were truly awful beyone description, in my opinion).

1. The Doors
Steppenwolf
Bad Company

I love classic rock, but these bands are way overrated... IMO

2. I agree that they were overrated.
I wouldn't quite say they're some of the worst bands ever, but I definitely don't think they were as good as the hype -- especially the Doors.

3. The Stones
Sorry. This'll get me in trouble, but i don't like 'em. Sloppy, inauthentic, preening, and derivative.

10. Which explains why they've survived 40+ years!
Mick could indeed be a preening twit, but it's his schtick. While they have never been my favorite band, I kinda dig their raw sound.

4. Matthew and Gunnar Nelson were live
at the amphitheatre in Epcot two summers ago. They had recently re-signed with Disney, and announced that they had embraced their father's music. For the first time, they did some of Ricky's numbers along with their own eighties hair band stuff-After the rain, Tracy's song, etc. When they started in on "Travelin Man", this cynical baby boomer got a little verklempt. They weren't half bad, and I wish them well.

14. The Guess who
were extremely mediocre. However your condemnation of the Airplane and the Dead is inaccurate. The airplane were without a doubt one of the best bands of the sixties. Great songs and imaginative guitar work. The Dead were an underground band in an underground period. FM used to be non commercial. There were actually no commercials on FM radio. Hard to believe. I grew up in the sixties and saw everyone. The Airplane were great as were the Who.

15. Sorry, but that is my opinion.
I agree the Who was a good band. Didn't care for the Guess Who though.

7. Sum 41
or 42 or whatever their name is. There is something about them that just seems to contrived and phony.

12. I'll go with a jazz band, Spyro Gyra.
Someone once described Spyro Gyra to me as being like discovering a stack of Playboys as a child. At first it seems awesome, but after you look at a few you realize that they are all just about the same. That is the perfect description of Spyro Gyra.
