DU Homosexual Couples: Would You Take Your Partner's Surname?
If you could get married... or have you done that anyway? Or would you use a new name or a hyphenated combination? I think I might think about a hyphenated thingy, but I would probably just keep my own name.

I've yet to decide when/if I'll change it back. It doesn't much matter to me and I loathe extra paperwork. :D

Edit:
Oops: Wrong thread (I think ;) )

7. No...(and this MAY sound bad)...
I think if I ever enter into a lifelong relationship with another man, I'd either want to keep my surname, or have him take mine. I just like my name too much! :D

I'd hate to be like _______ <(insert Placebo's real name here) Smith, or _______ Johnson.

Ew! Not for me. :P

9. My partner and I don't plan on changing our names when we get hitched
We're not planning on having/adopting kids, but if we ever did, I guess we'd have to figure something out. :) Odds are, it won't be an issue. hehe

12. That's sweet...
though I think it was a coincidence... UNLESS it represented (for you) your level of commitment... in which case it makes perfect sense.

13. yeah, I was 39 and knew he was a "keeper" LOL
interesting I got married every decade util this last one

19 lasted a year

29 lasted 3 years

39 we're at a dozen and still counting. What is amazing is we own our own biz and work together all day and come home and hang out all night and we don't nag or bitch at each other (mostly) and are still best friends

I am blessed and I send my wishes for you to be the same :)

14. Doubtful
What's in a name, eh?

Even if I was hetero, I don't think I would want my wife to take my name.

16. No, we've each kept our own
...although my wife has said she might take mine, because it's way shorter than hers, and easier to spell.

19. I think I could...
... but I'm not certain of the benefit involved... Of course, this is all theoretical as I have yet to find that man worth marrying just yet.

here's hoping :bounce: <but, what will the mil think?>

21. I would take a hyphenated combination.
I don't know what Doug would think, though. But I'd be honored to take his surname as part of mine. :-)
