The Dallas Observer was recently taken to task in their "Letters to the Editor" section when they used the term incorrectly.

I can't remember the word; haven't studied Spanish.

The term white trash is to distinguish a poor uneducated white from the usual poor uneducated person, which would have been the negro, since this is a term from the old days.

That's why its a racist term, IMO.

race of the person you're hating on, then the n-bomb.
hence, chicano n*, laotian n*, white n*, etc.

It's a class thing. The rich, college prep kids call the poor, JROTC and tech kids that, and honestly, I'm a poor college prep kid, and I'm not imune to that.
