WTF is up with the new Army ad?
Edited on Tue Mar-01-05 01:26 AM by sasquatch
There's a voiceover with all these guys doing military shit and he says "Somewhere a guy is buying a minivan." Now I've never really liked minivans but, I'd rather drive a minivan while wearing a pink sweater vest than getting my balls shot off in Iraq.

Let's weigh our options again:
"Buy minivan or get your balls shot off?"

I'm going with Minivan.:)

2. We're living in Nazi Germany...
...we're being told that militarism is cool. They need more kids for the "Eastern" front. Get used to it, its only going to get worse.

3. My husband DETESTS the "Army of one" slogan.
The first time he heard that, he said "What the FUCK? That goes against what the Army is based on!" He explained that it's NOT about just YOU, it's about all of you working together and "Army of one" totally contradicts that.

I said "Well it's appealing to the American ego" and he said "Well that's well and truly fucked."

5. My uncle (27 yrs Army Ranger CSM)
He said the exact same thing. Now, I was in the Air Force, we were pretty much for ourselves there in the Avionics backshop. LOL

6. Nothing destroys individuality like the Army.
The slogan is stupid and misleading.

If it's a Dodge Caravan, I might take my chances in Iraq.

7. I can agree with you on that

I'd rather drive an '86 Ford Escort down mainstreet Falluja with a sign that says "Allah Sucks" than to haul around town in a Dodge.

8. Yeah, but ...
Dodges are made by DaimlerChrysler AktienGesellschaft, which isn't the official carmaker of the Bush Reich (GM), nor is it the semi-official one (Bush drives a Ford).

I drive a Dodge, by the way. And I'd never buy a GM or Ford product. So there.

11. Same here!
Besides, my Grand Caravan is rated a better buy than the Ford or GM versions according to my 2004 Lemon-Aid guide!

10. What about that other ARMY RESERVE commercial...
where the camera is showing all these empty spaces like hospitals and firehouses and then the voice over says things like: "This one is fighting Osama." "This one is fighting the terrorists." "This one is liberating a country." JOIN THE US ARMY RESERVE

scary :scared:
