Best Drinking Song?
Edited on Fri Oct-10-03 10:41 PM by LewisJackson
What, in your opinion, is the song while your plastered/shitfaced/completly gone/ etc.?

I need some music to download after a bad, bad day.

2. Have it already
I love the song. Unfortunatly, it's more like a punch someone in the face song rather than a drunk song. I dunno, maybe that's just me.

Still a damn good song, however. Skid Row is so great.

7. What do you do with a drunken sailor?
Shave his belly with a rusty razor.
or
keel haul him 'till he's sober.

"I Drink Alone" and his cover of "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer."
Were you thinking of one of those?

15. Margaritaville
MARGARITAVILLE
Jimmy Buffett

Nibbling on sponge cake, watching the sun bake,
All of those tourists covered with oil,
Strumming my six string, on my front porch swing,
Smell those shrimp, they're beginning to boil.

CHORUS:
Wasting away again in Margaritaville,
Searching for my last shaker of salt,
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
But I know it's nobody's fault.

Don't know the reason that I stayed here all season,
With nothing to show but this brand new tattoo,
But it's a real beauty, a Mexican cutie,
How it got here I haven't a clue.

(CHORUS)

Cut my heel, had to cruise on back home,
But there's booze in the blender,
And soon it will render,
That frozen concoction that helps me hang on.

(CHORUS)

Yes, some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
And I know it's my own damn fault.

21. Oh, man, there's nothing like Korean drinking songs,
especially when bellowed by inebriated Peace Corps volunteers, their friends, and other habitues of that particular bar of the moment. The really great one that comes to mind is the rousing "Milyang Arirang" which offers not only bellowing but some great falsetto yips, and you then follow that with the tear-jerking "Mokpo'a Noonmool" - "Tears for Mokpo" ~sigh~ those were the days. Thank gods they didn't last but a coupla years or I never woulda. Lasted, that is.

31. "The Moonshiner" -- Traditional Irish Song. . .
I'm a rambler, I'm a gambler, I'm a long way from home
And if you don't mind me, then leave me alone.
I'll eat when I'm hungry, I'll drink when I'm dry,
If the moonshine don't kill me I'll drink til I die.

And there's more. . .

Kingston Trio

Scotch & soda, mud in your eye.
Baby do I feel high, oh me oh my.
Dry Martini, jigger of gin.
Oh what a spell you've got me in, oh my.
Do I feel higher than a kite can fly?
Give me lovin', baby,
I feel high.

And all that from memory.

39. Go For Soda
By Kim Mitchell

Might as well go for a soda nobody hurts and nobody cries
Might as well go for a soda nobody drowns and nobody dies
So I'm in one of my blue moods
You want to have it your way and I want it mine
All this debating going 'round in a blue mood makes me thirsty for love
Might as well....

Might as well go for a soda nobody hurts and nobody cries
Might as well go for a soda nobody drowns and nobody dies

Life seems to be a bomb inside of your head
Well, the bomb in my head is love
All this debating going 'round in a blue mood makes me thirsty for love
Might as well....

Might as well go for a soda nobody hurts and nobody cries
Might as well go for a soda nobody drowns and nobody dies
Might as well go for a soda it's better than slander
It's better than lies
Might as well go for a soda

Might as well go for a soda
Oh yeah, nobody hurts nobody cries
Might as well go for a soda
Oh yeah, nobody drowns, and nobody dies
Might as well go for a soda
It's better than slander, it's better than lies
Might as well go for a soda

Fuck everything, shut up and drink!
I don't wanna hear your shit tonight
And I don't wanna think!

Then came this fragment from another tune:

There was pints a Guinness,
Lashins a kisses,
I almost loved you,
My Amsterdam mistress.

Pints all around!
