What happened to the "views" column?

It was here when the new DU debuted, but didn't survive the two months of my (no internet) trip from mid-July to mid-September.

Was the views column voted off, or was it an administrative decision?

Not that I miss it, but imagine if a thread had plummeted into the archives without even a look.

Only a couple of the forums I post in have a views column. The one interesting thing is how much a sensational word or phrase in the header bloats the tally.
